4x4+PS= Very Annoying!!!

Featured Replies

yay another L&K saved.

shame about the prices thou

If this is any guide i had a rover 214 and the back wheelarch and sill rotted out. I had a new panel welded in prepared and sprayed two tone red with grey to an excellent standard. The damage £230

thats cheap, would expect £350 to £400

I know... was really mad/upset with it... just becasue of his stupid and ignorant driving... my car got knackered!!

If people are going to buy this fancy 4x4's they should learn how to drive them... i mean 4.0 litre engine guzzling all that fuel, hogging all the road, then when they drive/manuevre they dont even bother to look or use the parking sensors fitted to the back that they probably paid like £500 for!!!

Rant over about 4x4's... thanks for listening! hehehe

Seriously though peeps, take note of his number plate and steer clear!!!!! lol

That's a 3.0 diesel X5 actually, but see totally where you're coming from - not a good sight to see :finger: (oh, and it was never offered with a 4.0 - the V8 models have numbered 4.4, 4.6 and 4.8 in the product run :o)

And even worse, if it's like the X5 I drove, you even get a graphical display of how close any obstructions are getting! You might need TV and/or satnav for that though, but most of them come so equipped anyway. Also, how is the damage on the X5 more toward the offside side of the bumper, yet your car has damage on the nearside headlamp etc? Got any more pics, just curious :)

Anyway, hope it all gets sorted.

lol... thats for the heads up on the X5 range... i knew it was a 3.0d but was just genralising on the average size of the engines in these 4x4's.

Not sure if he had the little lights that told him how close he was, but he deffo had sensors on it!!

And just to throw a spanner in the works... ive seen a 4.5 v8 X5 in preston several times... looks like some special editiony one though.

I was stopped in the road you see and he reversed out at an angle and got my n/s front with his o/s rear.

No more pics just one of my car and one of his.

Bear in mind that my tyres are going on alloys so different sizes... but will see about getting em myself online and doing it that way.

Thanks for the tips guys!!!

had a look at getting tyres myself... and i wont actually be saving any money for some reason.

So its just easier to get someone else to order tyres and stuff.

HiQ tyres have been the cheapest so far.... But unsure of tyres to go for... all gonna cost around £198 for four.

My options are as follows:

HiQ | We Do | Tyres | EAGLE NCT5

or

HiQ | We Do | Tyres | EXCELLENCE

the others are some Hydragrip ones... designed to perform best in wet and some Dunlop sport and dunlop Fastresponse (changes lane faster apparantly!!).

Think maybe the eco ones... maybe try n save on some fuel?! lol

Re tyres - traditionally, and even now Uniroyal make some of the best tyres for wet weather conditions.

Dunlops - others have mentioned - are to my mind certainly behind the times in tyre technology.

yay you got de car back,

good 4 you,

now lets keep well away from those 4x4 drivers!

(and merc's that dont want to be overtaken by a skoda)

OMG to new tyres!!!

How could i have overlooked my tyres all those times ive just got the garage to sling a cheepo on!!

Got four new Goodyear GT2's on and what a difference they make....

Car is so much quieter on the road, and just feels so much more willing round corners and bends. Also seems to go a bit better, probably lower rolling resistance.

Had the tracking done too, so she no longer favours veering left anymore!

Cost me £235 in total, which wasn't too bad, would have cost me that for tyres along judging by all prices i could find.

Thanks for your advice guys... but this time HiQ tyres won!!

Sorry to hear about your car. I've had a few run-ins with 4 x 4 drivers trying to take the front end off my Octy (not a good thing to do to me first thing on a morning) on the roundabout where we live.

Mind you they are learning to lip read and understand hand signals now

Oh my, their little brains are advancing on quite quite these days then.

The norm is to get a dazed and bemused face staring at you through the window, and is they havn't even got up to speed with the fact that they've woken up yet!!!

At least she's all fixed up now and seems pretty happy... unfased by the whole traumer of the crash!! hehe

car looking gr8 m8:D

you know what i have to agree about the 4x4 drivers.

The guy who crashed into me also looked like he had just got up out of bed. bearing in mind it was 5.30pm!
