Perfect replacement for a MK1 vRS?

Featured Replies

Often premium models fetch a higher second hand value than the sporty models relative to the price you paid when new.

I agree. No one minds paying £205 tax and group 16-17 insurance on a shiny new vRS or GTi, however it is not so appealing when the car gets 6-10 years old and more economical models often fetch higher prices especially diesel estates. Practicality and running costs become more important in a second hand car.

As for resale prices of Mk1 vRS's Oh dear! which would you sooner have an 05 low mileage mk1 for £10,000 (as seen on auto trader) or a brand new 1.8 TFSI for £13,500 and lower running costs? Bit of a no brainer really.

by the way I have a nice low mileage mk1, 05 plate!!

Good luck getting £10k though fella.

If its done 13k and its not even 3 years old, can you really justify a new motor?

No, I have no intention of selling however if you look on Autotrader some are up for sale at that price. If my car was written off I would have to spend at least £10,000 to get something comparable.

Anyone know how insurance would likely compare between the 1.8T and the 2.0FSI ?
