Fitting a Parrot CK3100 using the adaptor cables

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

sorry, I know the installation of these units have been covered many times but I can't seem to find any help regarding fitting a CK3100 using the parrot AC000018AA cable set, bought seperately. I really need a step by step install guide, also the cables I bought (quadlock set), there are 4 seperate cables in the bag and I'm not sure where they all go. HELP  By the way I have an audience HU and the octy is an 07 plate.

I've got a Parrot CK3100 but it was fitted to the Fabia HU.

However I cant imagine it being too bad to fit, the connectors at the CK3100 end pretty much only go in one way, I'd start with that and then take it from there.

On mine you take the connectors out of the HU and patch them through via the corresponding connectors on the parrot cable kit.

I would imagine it would be the same on the Octy?

thanks for your reply WW_VRS, I can see where the (Cable 1) quadlock connectors fit and the other end fits into the control box, but I still have 3 other cables in the bag,

Cable2 - has a small rectangular blue connector one end and a 10 way white rectangular connector and a small 4 way black square connector.

Cable 3 - has a 24 way long rectangular connector going to a 10 way white rectangular connector and 4 way white square connector

Cable 4 - is a single blue wire with a bullet connector at one end

I assume I don't use any of the cables supplied with the CK3100 as that fit ISO connectors ?

Yeah the set I've got is for the ISOs.

Only suggestion is to have a look at Stu's site, perhaps the iPod cabling will give a hint on which one(s) to use:

many thanks for your help WW_VRS, any is much appreciated. Its a shame that Parrot don't include any paperwork with their adaptor kits, otherwise I'd be laughing instead of pulling out what little hair I have left

If you have any pics perhaps that will help one of the more knowledgeables here to come up with something good :)

must admit I've been there already, but many thanks for looking my friend. If you look at the picture for the mounting procedure for CK3100 the 2 quadlock connectors are the ones I have with the adaptor kit. I'm not sure if I just need to fit this cable/connector loom to the stereo then to the parrot lcd. Its got the power wires fitted to one of the quadlock connectors but in the loom this wire has been cut and fitted with a male and a female bullet connector, do I just join these together or do I need to supply a seperate power feed, but why have they supplied a female one end and a male the other, half way through the loom ? Sorry I must sound absolutely mad, but if you don't ask ...... :)

Please see attached picture of the forementioned cable, you can see the red wire has 2 bullet connector, what is the blue wire for ?

I don't really have time to look right now but my first impressions are that the quadlock is missing some parts you need to have connected.

I'm guessing the bullets on the red/blue are to swap power supplies.

I hate those Parrot things, they always seem to make a nightmare out of what they claim to be plug and play.

It's weird though, I've got the CK3100 but it is deffo plug & play using the ISO connectors. Annoying though :(

ISO is much much different to Quadlock and CAN though.

That is so very true :D

Sorry Stu, my fault, I didn't take pictures of the 3 other cables supplied in the adaptor kit. I did try to describe them earlier in the post but I'll add pictures of them later (after work). They supplied a single blue cable with a bullet connector fitted, so I suppose that fits on the loom you already see, but the other 2 cables I'm not sure of.

The Parrot kit needs a switched ignition feed to know when to turn on and off - given this isn't available at the headunit, the single cable could be to run to the fusebox to pick up a switched feed.

Thanks for the info Swing, do I connect both RED wires to a switched feed ?

I've taken pictures of both sets of cables, one of the ISO set supplied with the CK3100 and one of the adaptor set. I've even tried asking Parrot direct but still waiting for an answer, was really hoping to fit this at the weekend :(

Right I think I figured it out now, I don't need any of the ISO cables supplied with the unit, just need to use the adaptor cables. The BLUE bullet connector/single wire connects to a switched live, but the only thing I'm not sure about is the split red cable, one end has a female bullet the other has a male. I assume one of these has to be connected to a permanent live feed, but which one or is it both ? Sorry guy's to harp on

CJ I sent you a PM, I have a email with pics and info that should help you ;)

Blimey it wasn't that long ago & I cannot bloody remember!

First of all you will require all leads that come with the Parrot & ISO kit.

Johnny C wrote a good post here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/new-o...n-guide/41537/

which really helped me a lot.

The Iso kit does connect to the Parrot kit.

1. Take out the stereo (read link above) also be real carefull with the trim (don't loose your rag like I did!)

2. Pull out connector block at rear of head unit (got a bar that lifts out of connector to release)

3. Coneect the block to the head unit (I think it's the one that came with Parrot kit) the one with all the wires coming out of it

4. connect the iso kit connectors to the parrot connectors - If I can remember the smaller male connectors only fit into specific smaller female sockets.

I cannot quite remember what the blue wire was for but I think I left this one - this maybe for an electric aerial.

The orange & red wires are for your 12v switched & permanent Live - I cannot remember which is which but I think they are labelled.

There is a permanent 12v feed behind the head unit which I think connects to the female bullet connector that comes from your iso/parrot cable, as for a switched 12V feed it just doesn't exist behind the head unit (believe me I tried) you have to run it through dashboard underneath steering column then out towards the fuse box - there is one there I think No.13 or 15? You will need a spade connector & simply push it in to the available slot.

I cannot guarantee accuracy of the above mentioned but I hope it helps & points you in the right direction.

The only tips I can give are:

1. Again be real careful of the trim around head unit & dials

2. Be careful that you dont lose the screws that hold in the stereo - they can easily be dropped inside head unit when putting it all back together again.

3. Take out the glove box & hide the blue/black interface box somewhere in there & mind the mechanisms for the glove box door.

Someone mentioned about putting it behind gear stick cover - might be worth a try.

Test it before you put everything back - especially for the correct power - permanent feed needs to be on the correct one to remember settings of parrot. If you get it wrong like I did then you will just lose last caller id & a few settings everytime you switch ignition on - not a great loss - I live with it.

Good Luck

Paul

Gaff, I've emailed you, many thanks

Wilkopilko - thanks for your advice, much appreciated, I have an adaptor cable with quadlocks fitted, so I assume I don't need the ISO ones ?

I would compare the pinouts on the sticker on the radio to what you think your connecting to on the Parrot.

Gaff, many thanks for your help Sir, much appreciated. I ordered the cable from expansys.com via a link Parrot supplied me. The part number on the bag for the cable is AC000018AA7E. Perhaps this is a new type of cable, it connects to the stereo and directly to the control box, but theres no black box in the loom as there is in the ISO cables, but then again it could be totally wrong.

Are you still struggling with this one CJ?

Could you assemble the parrot in the manner you think it should be, lay it out and take a picture so we can see what you have to deal with.

I'm struggling to visualise it as they make it so fecking complicated.
