Bit more work done

Featured Replies

Well went to Bengie's today and had another go at the Fabia ;)

First got the rear bumper off the Escort + driver side rear wheel, to allow cutting/welding of a new panel. Was rusted a lot more than initially thought, so glad there was a good panel to replace it with :D

Whilst that was ongoing, I attacked removal of the Eibach/Koni FSD combo + rear ARB from the Fabia, and refitting the standard springs/dampers to the back.

Removed the skoda-branded dust caps from the tyres. Boy were they stuck. had to clamp down to support them, then use spanner to get them off  - won't be buying those again :thumbdwn:

Pumped up tyres a bit, but without power steering it's blimmin hard work.

Was a good day, loads of work done, and we'll probably tackle the other rear wheel arch + a little spot on one of the doors next time around.

Want to get the Escort in a decent shape.

Fabia wise, will have to try to work out how to vent the propane tank (if needed) and how to remove the main tank safely, so I can get the sound proofing out from underneath it. I might have a go at some of the propane system stuff that's bulky, as that would have to be professionally refitted at some stage, not messing with that.

Then a bit of a mad rush to get home, clean up, and go back out to the Oxon meet in Stevenington ;) Had a nice bite to eat there, and back home again after that :)

Glad you're making progress

Good to see things are moving forward mate.

I'm sure a cunning plan will come to fruition in good time.

keep at it mate you know it will be worth it in the end

Proof positive - you can't keep a good man down....

Good to see you're keeping at it fella! :)

it was good to see wiebo doing something for once :D

What's the story here? Sounds like you're trying to build an Escort/Fabia hybrid, which is a truly hideous thought! ;D

Crashed the Fabia, bought it back off the insurance company to rebuild.

Bought an Escort to trundle around in meanwhile.

Not a good plan :P

You got a running car, just get a few plastic skirts, change the headlights and we be half way there

Oooh, a Fabess - I reckon it'd suit

Somehow a hybrid of that nature makes me feel a bit unwell

The Escort is getting sorted out, a few bits more to do on rust removal/treatment, then probably pre-MOT test to see how it looks. Want that car to have full year's worth of MOT to avoid time pressure on the Fabia ;)
