Folding door mirrors possible?

Featured Replies

Is there a possibility of a factory order for folding door mirrors? I discovered on another thread that, for example, a factory fit towbar is available and this does not appear in the Octy brochure.

I know that the folding mirror option is widely available in VW cars from the Golf up for about £120 - so the parts are there in the VAG system.

I ask because my garage is a bit tight for space and I have to fold in my mirrors just in case I scrape one! I know it's lazy but having a push botton to fold them would be a boon.

Folding door mirrors are actually list in the Skoda parts catalogue but sdaly aren't available for the UK market.

Hi Stu, do you have the parts number for the folding mirror, am interested to get my stockist to import them in and get it installed asap...

Cost permitting, id also be interested in doing this.

Possible group buy ala maxidot/bluetooth perhaps????? :rubchin:

Stu... where are you?.... :P

Easy tiger.

I wouldn't even have a clue if the electrics were there or what would be required. It was something I briefly looked into a while ago when I ordered the car.

Thats something I would definitely be interested in, as I'm forever folding my mirrors in and out. Obviously cost permitting...it would be interesting if there is a retrofit.

Group buy and a how to guide...... count me in!

NO pressure Stu  :P

I would guess the loom wouldnt have the wiring to do this - its not available on any UK octy is it?

Lee

But surely it's on a standard loom?

Do and VAG brands that use the same housings/innereds offer it in the UK?

I wouldn't be too sure.

Oi - no fair - stop the teasing!!!!!! :P

I'd still be surprised if it had the wiring in place but Id like to be proved wrong.

So the mirrors also have the 'ambient lighting' function?! NICE :D

I'm going to try and get hold of a set and see what's what.

I can't see anything on the wiring diagrams that mentions an specific wiring to them nor can I see a different mirror adjusting kn0b.

I searched it too, may be mirrors contloled by a central locking without manual folding?

Your'e teasing them again Mr Stu.....Folding mirrors are actually quite handy, especially when you have the ability to fold whilst driving, London traffic springs to mind....very handy...:D

Thanks to a quick heads up from Superted, he tells me these mirrors are folded either via the kn0b inside (which doesn't seem to appear in the Octy parts bin) or the remote key fob.

We'll have to wait and see if they cen be got hold of first.
