Anyone know of any scrapped 4motion TDIs?

Featured Replies

:D :D

Those at Doksy will know why. I need that in my life! (PS: Not really that serious, but am tempted to plan out the logistics of a mongrel 4wd having now seen one in the flesh.... ;))

All that's needed is the back end of a 4 motion TDI, and an octy TDI gearbox + propshaft. Sorted.

You know it makes sense J.

Although you don't need as much smoke as that thing chucked out :o

Won't you need some kind of transmission tunnel?

nah, stick the prop down the exhaust tunnel and put the exhaust through the car :D

and why does it need to be a TDi 4 motion? the rear diffs etc are all the same except the gearbox.

Or out the side, under the sills ;)

that works, or at least it did on my nova :D

Jase, you know you really want to have the only twin-engined PD in existence. Just graft the front of a scrapped car to your rear, sorted with 2x BHP and torque albeit an ever so slight weight penalty...

Don't waste any more effort on a 4WD using only one engine....

Bas

BTW - thanks for sending the gauge hose - just got it - perfect!!

Jason's car would be massively faster in a straight line and exiting corners with 4WD Basil, imagine being able to actually put all that torque down :D

Just like the Top Gear cut & shut limo!

Just when you think that he has come to the dead bottom of the slippery slope, he goes for one better!!!!

(I hear that Czech will never be the same after Jason's last visit.......)

Oh well....

could this be the beginning of an epic, TopGear style Briskoda race...:rubchin:

wow.. it would be like th twin vr6 golf..

but with more soot

I take it you mean a Mk4 Golf 4Motion?

If so they are all V6's, no TDi for the UK.

You would also need the tank (or a custom one) senders, both pumps. And somewere else to put the LPG tank as you wont have a wheel well anymore.

And why an Octavia TDi gearbox? They aren't four wheel drive over here either.

I have the whole BAM engine/ gearbox & transmission kit and it's not that simple :)

You could try a 4 motion passat for rear axel etc but take heed of what Ross says.

Maybe simpler just to go for the revolving numberplate!!

Maybe simpler just to go for the revolving numberplate!!

would that revolve james bond stylee, or like a propellor?

:D

twin-engine, twin-engine, twin-engine!

........... if you don't want to deviate from total orthodoksy :orb_big_g:

007 all the way!

Wondered how long it would be before a thread like this would appear!

You know you want to J

That is mental - how many dials are on that dash? What do they all mean???

I say making a FWD car AWD is difficult and expensive and people argue with me, ross says it and people agree :)

maybe its because he knows a smidge more than me about cars :D

If it's any help , I agree with you as well.

It's something that gets mentioned quite frequently when people ask about making a 4x4 octy VRS and the answer is always to find a 1.8T 4x4 and add VRS cosmetics and a remap rather than try and do the mechanicals going the other way round

All I know is this chap bolted a gearbox from a 4x4 octavia TDI (actually, now I wonder if he said TDI - It could have been another gearbox which bolts on to the pd130 engine? ) and using the octy propshaft, bolted to the 4motion back end - which it now appears is likely to have come from a petrol - probably a VR6 I guess??? The propshaft ran down the exhaust tunnel, with some "modding" toward the back, and the exhaust ran underneath it all - quite low slung for my liking.

This chap had an ally fuel tank in the back, and I would probably ditch the LPG - or at least figure out a way to still keep the wheel well, or something similar. He'd also got rid of his fuel filter, and had something integral in the fuel tank he'd had mocked up.

I could do without his smoke - yes! Never quite understood why it was so bad.

surely there's going to be a f*ckload of "fabrication" involved - way over what can be "mongrelled"
