Anyone know of any scrapped 4motion TDIs?

Featured Replies

they are quite rare though Tom and did they do a mk1 TDi quattro or only a mk2? the mk2 probably won't be compatable.

No TDi quattro for the MK1 A3 no. All A5 chassis stuff is different rear end using the Haldex 2.

Dont forget a MK4 Golf is a fair bit wider than the Fabia, so its either arches of somehow alter the rear subrame/axle.

Then you have the conundrum of the fact your car doesnt have ESP.

Mine has ESP

I'm liking the sound of this........

it depends on what sort of input the haldex controller takes, if its just a simple signal then just give it a 12v off the ignition :D

Well, it seems Mk4 4motion TDIs are in short supply, so if someone knows of a complete pd150 one around somewhere, please let me know. :D I will want the whole car I suspect if this is going to be achievable within a reasonable budget. I'll need most of the front end I imagine, along with the complete intact backend, and the propshaft. The rest will be down to fabrication.

J, you will need everything transmission wise from clutch onwards so gearbox, 4 driveshafts, prop, rear diff etc. you selectors should be fine.

Just a few minor things, a few cable ties etc should help

Will be interesting to see if it is worth it, Quaife/Peloquin on first though I'd say ;)

They are in short supply because they never made one for the UK, not 100% sure if they made one at all.

Cut & shut job Jase?

Jason.. as bengie says you only really need the gearbox backwards.. i noticed the "offending" car had custom engine mounts, the whole engine had been shifted to the left a few cm (just to make your job harder LOL) along with fully fabricated rear subframe and suspension mounts. you better be sure about this otherwise youll be writing off a Fabia chassis!

Wanna buy the remains of mine when it's done? It *is* bent and I wouldnt recommend it as the final one, but if you wanted to practise or see what might fit, it could be a good one. Once mine is done it will probably need a flatbed to move it though, although it will be very light with everything stripped out I'd imagine, so probably wouldnt need a crane :D

No thanks Mr WW. :D Some more research has led me to believe the 4x4 TDI was purely a European thing, which makes finding the parts rather more difficult. Easy enough for someone from CZ I suppose. :D

I might have to put this on the backburner, although I couldn't help sending an email earlier to the place lots of my mongrel bits came from - because they had a BAM equipped Audi TT quattro in for breaking. I'm starting to think a full 4x4 BAM quattro transplant into an old MPI might be the way forward, and probably work out the same as doing the 4x4 to my own car.

You sure you aren't better off just buying one of those as a shell

Jase, you can use a petrol 4x4 transmission as long as it has a 6 speed gearbox so S3, 225TT but you would need your gearbox rebuilding with your current ratios as the petrols ones would be far too short and probably give you a max speed of about 100mph in 6th.

could you not get golf tdi 4motions? no idea if that would help you jase

It can be done Jason, if you can work it out
