New Fabia Just Collected

Featured Replies

Just like to add my own Fabia To the growing List.

Fabia 3 1.6 105hp

Black Magic Metallic. Black Onyx interior.

No options except the kick strips and Autoglym Lifeshine.

Very happy, nice drive. Rusty petrol cap clip already (will be asking dealer about that).

Am i right in saying that we are using the nickname "furby" to describe a Fabia? Where does this come from?

Sounds lovely. Not heard much about the 1.6 engine, so would be nice to hear what you think of it.

Enjoy it!

Welcome to the fold of Fabia owners mate.

Yes I think the collective name is Furby, never knew they done a 1.6 fabia, before I bought the Fabia Vrs I was looking around at the new shape but don't know how it would have felt going from a 1.6 focus toa smaller engine car, so I bought the Vrs.

Had a shot in one when they were up at Knockhill Motor fair back in May and the nre bersion is a well built car, just waiting on the release of a Vrs version and will prob go for that in 3 years time.

I got the option of the Autoglym shine on mine but decided againest it as I'm a confessed car cleaner in my spare time and like to make a good job of mine. Every week the car gets a wash, polish and a wax and due to the colour of mine being yellow add a colour protector as well.

Hope you enjoy the car mate, let me know how it gets on and stick some piccies up.

Cheers

David

Enjoy your new car.

Welcome to Briskoda.

Congratulations on your new car, I saw 2 new Furbys yesterday, so they're definitely becoming more and more popular.

I ordered the 1.6 for my Roomster Scout. Seemed to have some decent go in the tiptronic auto test car that I tried and I couldn't justify the extra £1000 for the TDI because I won't do that many miles in it.

Hi, thanks for your comments so far. I will take some pictures soon and post them. It's difficult to find pics of a black one so might be useful to someone.

The 1.6 engine seems quite smooth, it's no firecracker, but then it's only got 100 miles on it. It will probably loosen up a bit (i am running it in so not really exploring the rev counter yet.

Will keep you posted.

Just goes to show you can have your cake and eat it. :) Enjoy the new car.

Welcome.

Enjoy the car.

Andy

nice choice!

the black really looks great on the furby and the 1.6i is a good little engine after youve loosened it up.

great spec on the 3 too. RPS, maxidot, armrest, cruise, all very nice!!

enjoy....i have new 3 1.4tdi in black and love it

still undecided on the new fabia tbh but i think they will grow on me hope you enjoy your new car thoug mate

I have a 3 1.4 TDI in black as well. Ever time I get in it I amazed at how much car it is for the money.

Having owned 6 Volkswagens before getting the Fabia (including our present 2008 MY Passat Estate) I can't say I notice any difference in build quality. In fact some features seem better thought out, on the Passat the radio volume doesn't adjust for the parking sensors but it does on the Fabia!

Only frustration with the 1.4 is fuel economy, no matter how hard I try I can't get anywhere near the claimed 60 mpg. Average is around 50mpg. How it ever justifies the cheap road tax is beyond me but I am not going to complain!

Interesting point about the 1.4 diesel economy. Our new petrol 1.2 70bhp Fabia 2 is getting 48mpg and it has done less than 1000miles. It is very refined and a joy to drive.

I know a lot of posters swear by the diesel engine but at £1500 extra and poor refinement it is simply not worth it. I don't think the chassis of a supermini can adequately handle the diesel vibration added to the additional vibration produced by the 3 cylinders. The 1.9 TDi version drives better but is even more expensive.

Ironically I have just come from a 5 cylinder volvo diesel (which was super smooth) and I was expecting a massive contrast. There is one but not as big as you wuld expect.

At idle it is noisy but up and running it is fine. Have read reports of vibration through the pedals, steering wheel etc but I can't detect anything, even at idle.

I had a polo 1400 tdi and it didnt start to get good fuel ecnomy until after 10k

when i got it i was averaging about 48mpg and after 50k i was averaging about 58mpg.

I think they take along to run in. But once run in they are quite refined, for a 3 pot

On Used Cars UK : Nearly New Cars UK you can find most colours the car comes in, nicely in hi-res and all, like these two. Proved helpfull to me in my choice, as I've now got a black one on order too.

That looks nice , hope you enjoy it!! Welcome to the site too!

Welcome to the site....... I'm still trying to decide whether i like the new Furby yet....... One of the reasons i bought my furby was because i think the mk1 looks menacing in a strange sort of way...... When compared to the Ibiza & Polo. Hopefully they'll release a vRS version that might sway me. ;)

The black magic pearl looks lovely when fully cleaned, polished & waxed on a sunny day with differant shades of silver & gold shining through.

I'm not sure exactly when the Furby name started..... But the Octavia is called the Octy so Furby for the Fabia makes sense.

Anyhow enjoy the car and i'm sure you'll find the site a usefull & friendly place.

Cheers

Dave.

A Picture..

Hi John,

Any chance of a picture of the shift/selector lever

It's not a weird obsession:D Just wan't too see if it would sit comfortably with my hand for knocking it back and forwards, VAG ones always seem to be a bit chunky

Hi

I've just picked up a 1.6 Fabia3 also.

And have got to say I like the handling better than the old 1.4 16v Fabia Elegance I traded in for it. Although still not as great round the bends as my ageing 306.

Drives well and has a nice surge of power around 3.5k to 4k rpm. I haven't really pushed it yet but I think it'll be OK.

I like the discs all round but find the braking is not as sharp as on my old Fabia. That was really vicious but great once you were used to it. :-)

Faults so far? Only one. Heated seat controls were switched round so driver's worked passenger's and vice versa. Not exactly a major issue although electrical again.

Reversing sensors are useful too, :-)

I think it'll do for now.

Hey, you seem to have the same car as me except mine is a Roomster - my heated seats are wired up back to front too and mine is also a 1.6!

The engine is pretty good on the flat but doesn't like hills very much. I've got to get used to dropping a gear and revving more though as I am used to an Octavia 1.8T.

Congratulations, nice car.

How useful do you find the rear parking sensors?

Now with a little bit of lowering, a nice stainless steel exhaust peeping out under the rear bumper,...eehh, sorry, its a disease.

i got a new 1.9tdi fabia 3 in the black , all black interier.

extras

full electric windows,

getting fitted as we speak

chrome exhaust, chrome pedals, chrome sills, rubber boot mat and ipod connection.

let you know how they go.

i love the car, 500 miles so far and averaging around 40mpg, reaching a max of 53mpg so far

only thing ive noticed is that the lights arent amazing. i changed from a clio 05 and it has great lights

Congratulations, nice car.

Thanks.

How useful do you find the rear parking sensors?

Handy when parking in tight spot at side of road.
