Octi MK1 vRS Temp sensor problem?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

I have a bit of a weird problem where randomly the temp gauge reads nothing at all or stays very low..............and the car runs hardly any boost.

If you turn the engine off and restart then it shoots up to 90 (where it normally sits when warmed up) and runs full boost again.

Will it be the temp sensor thats the culprit?

Many thanks

Trev.

hi my 2002 octy vrs is having its temp sens done on tues it does not go higher than where it usually sits but 'waves' at you and sometimes sticks down at the lower end ( i have no worried about the engine with it ) and like yours when you turn it off and start the car up again its usually ok having it replaced anyway like i said on tues to be sure and getting my dv replaced at the same time too xxsadielouxx :P

Sounds like it to me. I did a technical guide for the Fabia here, which won't be 100% relevant for the Octy, but ought to be enough. As mentioned later in the thread it's worth considering replacing the thermostat body at the same time, as one sits inside the other, and they can be bought as a pack from the dealer for not much more than the sensor on its own.

Hope this helps!

A search here should reveal the part numbers but it is a problem your dealer will be aware of so should be able to find the part easily with just a description.

Its an 5 min job to change and is located to the right of the engine block, and you should find it easily with the bonnet open and the plastic engine cover removed.

Yep i had the same on mine, but not the boost problem! though having said that it give's a reading to the ecu so maybe. I replaced mine with the new green type one form the dealers about £22 and easy to fit just make sure the engine is stone cold. Been ok ever since and seemed to run bit better.
