Dell or BenQ LCD??

Featured Replies

I am currently trying to pick a monitor to go with my new pc.

The Dell2407wp gets a good write up, but it mentions banding issues with them...

Also the BenQ FP241W gets a good, if not better write up......

I'm no expert and as my other thread established - you lot are all computer geeks!! So advise away! lol

I want a 24" widescreen, so any other suggestions welcome :)

I'd go for the cheaper of the two :D

Probably the majority of internal components are the same anyway, so just get the cheapest...

There really is so little difference in price that I can't even be swayed by that! lol!

I'm just worried about the 'banding issues' on the dell...

Get the BenQ one then :D (I assume that's cheaper too?)

Yes I saw that HP on PC world site, but if I'm honest I'm being really anal and I want a good one. If I'm gonna spend over £400 on a monitor I want it to be the best one. If anyone can give me an informed opinion, that would be greatly appreciated. At the moment I'm going from information on t'interweb

 For that price, I bought a 32" monitor from ebuyer

What was it though. Need to rememebr, you get what you pay for. Thats what I'm finding anyway. I didn't want to go over £400, but I'm gonna have to!

Also that HP is a TN panel which apparently isn't good for photo editing.

buy the dell!

care to justify that comment? :)

I'd def get the Dell over BenQ, although the Samsung for £335 is a better buy than both...

Which Samsung? The only Samsung I saw with an Uber write up which was on a par with the Dell and the BenQ was the 224T or something like that. I don't want a TN panel, and for that price it sounds like it probably is!! The Dell and the BenQ are both S-PVA I think, which apparently is ok for photo editing. The BenQ gets a slightly better write up, but the dell is black! lol

Maybe one to consider is the Samsung SM 245B,i am not sure of panel type, but it reviews well and as an owner of a couple of Samsungs i am very happy with them.:)

It's a TN panel and only gets 6/10 image quality on trusted reviews.....

but thanks for the suggestion :)

It's not as big as you're looking at, but I've no issues with the Dell panel I've been using for the last 2 years.

Likewise, had the original 2405 from dell, I guess 3 years now is it? Well anyway had it since they arrived and pretty much used every day and it's still going fine...that's done it though ;)

Loz get the Dell the only reason i say this is that they use the same panels as this company

<<<<<<<<

And i use their monitors all the time

We buy loads of Dell kit at work and the monitors are excellent. I have a couple of 2001s sat on my desk and they're great. I'd get a 2407 for home no problem. They never seem to break either, unlike some of the other brands we've had.

I have four of them :D 6400x1200 or 3200x2400 desktop resolution is just plain rude :D

And to think i'm still using my 5 year ol iyyama 17" panel which cost twice as much. Is it getting towards time to upgrade or have I another 5 years??

Sigh. I must be a bit under-endowed with my 3200x1200 :o
