Bloody knackered.

Featured Replies

It all started this morning in the early hours. Suffering with a hang over I knew I had to get up. Xavier needed me, my old car now over four years old needed some loving maintenance and I had chosen the morning after the night beofre to do it :P

So with a foggy head and a dodgy tummy we set to work to do

60k service

Cambelt, Tensioner and water pump

Console bushes

Wishbone bushes

Anti roll bar bushes

Rear bump stops

Armed with two trolley jacks and a roll cab full of tools we set to work. Personally considering we were working on the floor i'm impressed it all gont done by about 5.00pm and still just about light.

Xav has some assorted pics from todays 'fun' hopefully he will post them later.

Indeed.

I feel knackered too just watching and didn't do much at all (feeling guilty and all that) :o

A massive thanks for your time and effort. Glad we did go ahead with it after all and clear your head

I'm sure no plugging is required to promote Ross, but I'll do it anyway. Cheers mate

I'll figure out how to get the photos off my phone some time soon. Didn't take much - one of the entire subframe. I'll probably add arrows and text so the uninitiated like myself (until today that is ;)) can see what bits need changing when 4yrs, 60k of usage.

Good to see Lummox Enterprises is now fully functioning and turning out excellent work.

Pot noodle lunch was exquisite.

That Xav :(

He usually promises em a slap up steak and a red wine.

Lot of work there, Ross.

Solid stuff - wonder how the car felt after all that work? Hope Xav reports later on...

All desire to do any work on my car, or anything at all for that matter, tends to be totally diminished following a session on the beers. Sterling effort put in then. :D

Time for an update. :)

Car feels so much better. I'm still taking it easy as I need to get 4WA done. But going over bumps, the whole suspension just feels better and stays more planted. No clonking or anything, just the sensation that the wheel is always properly in contact with the road. Also, the suspension seems a little softer, and I guess that's because the bushes now take up a bit of the shock rather than immediately bottom out.

A few photos as promised.

1) I'm not aware of any garage that has comfy recaro seats in the lunch / waiting area :D

2) Pic of subframe once dropped from the car.

3) worn console bush  no wonder it was clonking around and steering sometimes feeling a bit vague

4) ingenious device for removing bush from console without the need of a hammer (only a pneumatic drive and huuuge compressor needed as it takes time).

Big big thanks to da man again

Nice pics! Good to hear that all the knackering done was well worth it!

Cheers

Recaros are the seat to eat your Pot Noodle in I tell thee, and that break was well earned.

More than well earned.

MOT passed today, and just taxed, so fully "on the road" again :D
