Nokia CK-7W Bluetooth car kit installation

Featured Replies

I have just ordered myself a Nokia bluetooth car kit to fit in my Fabia VRS.

Has anyone got one of these or fitted one to a Fabia. I'm assuming once the physical installation is complte the final connections will be reasonably simple and the kit will just require a switched 12V supply. The bit im not so sure about is what connection to use on the back of the Radio if I decide to use the radio mute facitily on the kit.

Any suggestions would be much appriciated aswell as any advice on removing parts of the dash tor running cables.

Finally, does anybody have any reconmendations on what sort or aerial to fit, I am looking for somehting fairly un-obtrusive.

Strangely enough I just upgraded SWMBO's CK-1W installation to a CK-7W setup.

I have to say it works well with her Nokia 6230i both on bluetooth and in the cradle.

Wiring up is fairly straightforward once you have decided where to position the cradle and run the wires in for the aerial and Microphone.

The standard symphony unit has a radio mute facility and if you follow the instructions on VRStu's site you can wire the unit up to both mute the radio and use the radio speaker for the phone.

All in all I'm very impressed with this piece of kit !

I have the CK-7W installed in my octy, I have the mute lead connected to my HU and also the kit audio output is routed throught the stereo. When a call is made/recieved then the radio mutes, and the sound changes over to the phone.

Thanks for the comments.

From the people who have had these kits installed, where have you fitted the control button and what sort of aeiral have you used and where has it been fitted?

You can see SWMBO's phone in her car HERE.

I mounted the Bluetooth button on the connector where it enters the cradle and reinforced it from behind. The reason for mounting it there was because the handbrake gets in the way in the centre consul and I didn't fancy mounting on the dash.

The aerial is a small strip type aerial mounted on the inside of the front windscreen behind the rear view mirror.

The microphone is mounted in the interior light behind the grill part.

You can just see the phone speaker in the photo although the phone mutes the radio and the sound comes through the radio speakers as well.

Excuse the dog hairs etc in SWMBO's car .... two Labradors, enough said ! :D

I used an autoleads lead to do the install - great because it deals with the power connections too - although they're about £35.

I mounted the button on a blanking plate next to the control for the passenger seat heater. The mic is on the driver's a pillar. I found it easiest to run the cable up the passenger a pillar, over the top of the windscreen (easily tucked into the headlining) and back down the driver a pillar.

I connect using bluetooth so the control unit is mounted under the glovebox.

I run one of these too (although about to change). I don't have a cradle installed, and used an Audioleads adaptor to handle power and radio muting. My control button is fitted to the blank button nearest the driver and looks quite neat. My mic is fixed to the headlining, just to the right of the rearview mirror. My control box is mounted behind the glovebox and I've run the mic wire up the passenger A-pillar and along the edge of the headlining. I don't use an external antenna as reception seems fine. Although in the past I've used a T-bar type internal adhesive model, fitted to the top of the windscreen behind the mirror.

I didnt use the aeriel that came in the kit, my company Nokia 6021 works just fine in the cradle using its own aerial.

I have mounted the control button on the centre console by the gearstick, although I hardly ever use it. The only times it gets used is to, use the voice dial feature and if I am using a non cradle bluetooth phone (my N95) to turn the carkit on. As I have the kit wired through the car stero, the volume dial does nothing and has no purpose.

well I got the kit fitted this morning and everything seems to be working ok, the installation was fairly simpe and I have managed to do it with nothing other than the button and mic visible (took most of the dash out to run the cables neatly though)

I now jusy have one question relating to routing the sound through the stereo speakers. I do not seem to have anywhere to connect these up with the CK-7W kit, the only speaker connection is for the external speaker which has a 3.5mm mono jack plug, is it just simply a matter of unplugging this and using another 3.5mm jack which is connected to the stereo input (yellow plug), and if this is the case, is it actually necessary to have the external speaker which came with the kit installed?

You dont need the external speaker. To get the sound, I cut the speaker cable close to the speaker, then stripped the cable back before soldering the core onto the appropriate connections on the HU.
