Noisy aero wipers

Featured Replies

I recently fitted some new Bosch Retrofit Aero Wipers and while going to Stanstead the other day couldn't figure out what the roaring sound was at highish speed until I put the wipers on and it instantly went until they parked again. Whilst they work well they will be going again soon at this rate. Anyone else had this? is there a cure? or have I just done it wrong!

Have you got them fitted correctly?

Doesn't seem to be a wrong way to fit them but would welcome any suggestions

I cant really see how you could possibly fit them wrong - very simple. I use the Bosch aero wipers on the standard arms and have no noise at all. And mine have been tested to over 140 MPH at the Nurburgring . If you post a pic I'll compare them to mine if you like (length, possition ect.)

Heres some pics, could they be upside down?

Sorry if this is a bit amateurish, I've not posted any pix before:confused:

what model where these origonally for ??

Any Mk1 Octavia - they are all the same arent they?

Is the passenger one making contact with the glass for its whole length, from the picture it looks like its lifted at either end.

They look the same type as mine (size ect) - its hard to tell with the pictures not showing the whole windscreen. Heres a pic of mine anyway for you to hava look at. Sure they're the same anyway.

Mine are lifted slightly at one end only in parked possition due to shape of windscreen but do appear to have beter contact than yours.

Hope you fix the problem, I'd never go back to the standard type after using these.

They work well its just the noise - admittedly at over 75, but it is quite noticeable, and mainly appears to be the passenger side. I'll look again tomorrow.

I have the mk4 golf one's on mine and they could be described as making a "swooshy" sound when in use is this what your getting ?

It looks like the passenger one isn't sitting flat on the screen which could explain the noise.

Noise only there when parked, sort of thrumming, silent when wiping

It looks like the passenger one isn't sitting flat on the screen which could explain the noise.

I've looked at it again and the end of the passenger on is off the screen for about an inch when parked, works fine, and I can't see how to change it, other than possibly moving the arm on the splines, but as its never been off I can't see why it should be like this.

I think the blade isn't flexible enough for the screen then as the OEM ones for a MKIV golf sit in contact all the way.

I would suggest that this is probably the source of the noise as the air will pass under this causing the blade to vibrate against the glass at speed.

So basically they are not the right thing even though they are the right size. Might drop Wiperblades.co.uk a line cause they aren't much good if they all do this.

I bought valeo aero style wiper blades from wiperblades.co.uk no problem with them, and the passenger one curves round the screen in the parked position.

get some mark 4 golf ones from Vagparts.com :-) We did a group buy a little under a year ago. I think that everyone who bought them was happy with their purchases.....

I paid full price for them and was more than happy. Much better wipe and a doddle to change the blades too.

and I think u can just change the blade within in the aero arm, akin to changing a blade in normal wipers, so no more expensive to use (unless you like to change the whole assembly).

 • 3 weeks later...

Back to the wiper blades I'm going to send them back as there is no way to make the passenger one contact the screen when parked. They are not suitable for the car.

get some mk iv golf ones... they work a treat (and come with new arms)
