Help on Braking upgrade/performance

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Does anyone know what kind of calipers (front and rear) the Fabia 1.4 16v has?

Has anyone tried the TarOx 6-pot calipers on a Fabia 1.4 16v with 15

Be impressed if you could get a 6-pot kit under 15" rims, but, as always, I stand to be corrected :)

Best way to improve performance is to get a dot 4 performance brake fluid, something like Ferrodo DS2500 pads and replacement performance discs if they'll fit. This should cost you a few hundred and be a significant improvement for road driving....

Oh, and don't touch the EBC pads, unless you go with the EBC disks as you'll end up warping them! ;)

I belive Stimps has a 1.4 16v and he has just gone down the Black diamond discs and predator pads.

but i reccomend DS2500.. very very good brakes (except im running them on 312mm brakes)

No need for 6pots on road IMHO. Fluid and pads!

IIRC pots = stability at high speed. thats why DB7's have 10's and so on far higher speeds to kill. TBH the 2's on the RS and 4x4 were fine....DS2500's all round drilled and grooved discs and your laughing, screaming or head butting the dash :D Normally in that order eh Huck ;)

So given my very limited knowledge same sized discs and pads a 2 potter should stop aswell as a 4potter. That might be rubbish, but hey ho...only fell unsafe on the 2's on road under 6+ hard braking onto suregrip. But the fluid was 15months old OEM stuff. Change fluid and not a 200ml top up and yet to find there limits...roll on saturday :D

Indeed I have, Col :)

Black Diamond Grooved Discs front & back & matching B.D. Predator Pads. Also changed the brake fluid. The parts are as listed for a fabia 1.4 16v, and they looked to be a direct swap for the OEM brakes. I changed the wheels at the same time so can't really say if they'd fit with 15"s, but my fabia came with 14" steels originally...

Make some enquiries first, but I'd say they'd fit ok...

Ferodo Pads are well liked by other members btw...

I will probably go ahead with B.D. combis but I was curious if there will be any problem with the ABS? will it be affected in anyway?

Are you sure they aren't singles?

Oh, and you have a txt ;)

Shouldn't be - grippier brakes would just look like slippier road to the computer.

Yep, they are single pot hook n grab callipers
