When i checked last night there are two seperate v4 firmware releases available one for the N73 and one for the N73 ME so you might just have to wait till it's available for your network....... From what i've read vodafone are usually the first to ok it and it seems 3 are one of the last to ok it. The others seem to fit in the middle somewhere. ;)

Cheers

Im on Orange as its the only network i can get a full signal on around my neck of the woods!

Yep. Was an Orange customer for approaching 10 years but they wouldn't even entertain giving me the contract / phone i wanted last year and as much as said "Sorry - not interested" to me so i moved over to Vodafone..... Friends have said they are a little more willing to keep your custom come upgrade time so we'll see..... If not i'll more than likely hop back to Orange for a year as O2 doesn't seem to work when in the house.... Only gets a signal when out on the drive.

To be honest i just did a google search for N73 V4 FIRMWARE....... There are a few forums that have the changelog for each firmware release etc..... I'm at work at the mo so can't get the actual forum i used.

Seems as though Orange are late comers into the Upgraded software market!

Just discovered on the official Nokia forum, that Orange dont do the N73 anymore, so i doubt i will be able to upgrade my firmware, but from what i can gather its got a few faults....

Ill just stick with it as it is i think....

Shame as my in-car kit cradle only takes an N73!

Change the product code on the phone, then run non-operator specific firmware :)

Orange have always been renowned for this sort of thing. In the earlier days, it was why they brought new models into their range months later than other networks. They like mucking about customising and branding the firmware

Mine is no where near that bad!

works fine, just a bit slow on loading pages up.

That usually means you are running too many apps..... Hold the menu button for a second or two and a list of all open apps appears down the left side of the screen. You'll probably find that you have the phonebook and log open etc.... As each time you use the contacts to call someone it stays open in the background till you go back in a close it manually. These are using the phones memory.... hence you get the low memory message when trying to use something memory intensive like the camera etc...

As far as i know that's just a thing with Symbian phones.

Symbian = W**k!

My mates just started having trouble with his all of a sudden, after about 8 months!

Maybe its an N73 thing?!

Well after upgrading the firmware to v4.0726.2.0.1 last Friday night after some initial probs with re-installing some of my apps..... My fault as i was trying to re-install The full Quick Office program to the memory card rather than the phone memory where it should be :o:O..... It seems that all is well again.

Changes i have noticed are.............

Any appointments etc... on the main screen have gone back to the original style font instead of the BOLD font that they had been with my last fw update.

The phone now supports A2DP - Used for stereo bluetooth headsets etc....

The camera's focused beep and shutter noise are slightly delayed...... Now this might seem weird but it actually makes using the camera better!!! The mrs always used to move the camera straight after hearing the shutter sound only to find the picture blurry. It would seem Nokia have delayed the sound so you don't move the camera till after the picture has been taken properly.

Pictures taken in low light conditions are now of a lot better quality..... Or they seem to be.... I'm gonna take a comparison shot with both mine and the mrs' N73's later this evening to see if the new update does improve it but from looking at a couple of pics i've taken in a very dark room the quality seems a lot better.

The viewfinder image seems to be of a slightly worse quality.

When changing settings in the camera.... Exposure, white balance, ISO etc..... a small preview pane is now shown.

The mp3 player from the N73 ME is now included and starts automatically on switching on..... This i personally don't like as i don't use the mp3 player so i just exit the player whenever i switch on the phone, (Not very often)

FOTA updating is now available on the phone. (This means you can update the firmware over the air without connecting to a PC if reqd).

The snakes game has been removed.

Menu's seem to be about the same speed..... Maybe slightly faster but not much.

Overall for myself the update improves the phone slightly.... The only annoying thing for me is the mp3 player auto starting but i rarely turn the phone off so it shouldn't be too bad..... Should keep me happy for another couple of months till upgrade time anyway.

Lol, im not running anything, the only apps I'm running is the standby. So annoying when I have messages to come through yet cant get them.

You will however find your Bluetooth has been "upgraded" to V2, meaning any V1.2 devices you have wont be supported.

I read that somewhere.

My handsfree in the car runs off bluetooth too, so im gunna stick with it how it is!

Cheers people!

Can't say i agree with that....... The two to three year old Belkin bluetooth dongle on the PC is v1.2 (I've just checked), and my phone still connects ok to it after the upgrade. Also still connects ok to my 2 year old TT Go 300.

***EDIT***

Just had a look on some forums and the problem seemed to be with some BT V1.2 GPS devices....... This latest firmware appears to have sorted most of them out..... And indeed people say that newer GPS devices, (which usually still only use v1.2 anyway as they don't require the extra facilities given in v2) also work ok.

Would possibly look to be a faulty phone then.... Or corrupted memory.

The only time i have known the low memory message come up is when there are a few apps open..... As soon as i get the message i do the 'hold menu button' thing and close any apps that i'm not using..... Then whatever i was doing when i got the low memory message starts to work ok.

Cheers

Dave.
