What does this sound like a recipe for?

Featured Replies

Why not just run the car on a 50:50 mix of LPG and petrol?

Its a recipe for covering the countryside in little bits of Skoda parts and spending the rest of your life looking like Harry Rednapp.

Aslo the problem with an HDPE container is that , whilst it won't be attacked by the chemicals, it will allow the chemicals, particularly the IPA to diffuse through it suprisingly quickly so you could be left behind with some of the more nasty materials. The picric acid can also potentially 'salt-out' onto the inside surfaces of the container in the head space above the liquid then you would look more like Nikki Lauder should it go off under the friction when you unscrewing the lid !

I get the feeling that it wont just be Skoda UK who are viewing threads on here with an ingredients list like that !!

Watch out for a photoshopped picture of Jason, who was running from the police going into the tube.

As JR said, the HDPE bottle might not get eaten by this mix, but you would probably want to keep the components in a set of glass bottles and then mix them up as required.

Another problem is that if you keep the bottle in the boot and the IPA leeches through the container you will end up with a boot full of explosive IPA vapour and a bottle of something quite explosive.

The locking mechanism would then set it off with a small spark or the light when you open the boot.

Still I guess it would bring a new meaning to remote opening of the car :D

Racing drivers wear flame resistant suits when they're in the car.

Jason will be dressed liek this

Scotland Yard perhaps? :D I have put this idea on the "backburner" - pun intended. I may chat more to the chap who told me about the recipe and runs it in his race TDI....

Maybe this guy has had a premonition of what will happen :D

If it involves you Jason I'd say it's a recipe for disaster!!!

Damn, all the good lines get used

He's certainly given up the will to live, anyway

aww I was gonna say that! :( you all beat me to it with the witty responses

Oh, it's mad, but apparently it really helps a diesel.

FFS Jason, after reading that you are stupid to even still be considering it. Just buy something off the shelf that wont blow you or your car up - or, if you are so determined to have a fast car - go and buy one?!?!

i think it's allready been said, but anything with toluene in it will be unstable without a stabilizing agent

DONT DO IT

And toluene fumes will make your brain melt.

I expect the other stuff won't do you much good either.

It's good **** is it? ;) Decided not to bother anyway, so you can all rest easy, I mean easIER. :)

For now, maybe.

Next week: "Should I try nitroglycerine as a fuel additive?"

Maybe we could all go round to Jasons and help him out. It will either work out well and the Mongrel will hit the speed of sound, or it will go badly and we will have first ever Briskoda Fireworks meet....Do we have any members called Guy who are willing to be a test pilot?:D

Do people ever put in a litre or two of petrol to bump up the power?

(I used to mix in 5 litres of blue av-gas with my petrol years ago in a high-compression engine. Deffo made a difference....)

Oh, for Fawkes sake, man :D

Now if you inject an oxidising agent into the cylinder at the same time as the derv you would get a power gain....

I find oxygen in air works well, but you could always fit a liquid oxygen tank and inject it instead of the air :P

If you want something to inhale could I suggest your NOx

Mr Hasselhof's urine sample

or Carb cleaner, except the 5% H202 shouldn't be there.

Rocket fuel, except hydrogen peroxide would be up at 80%

Found a really interesting link on the topic of a cheap additive for both diesel and petrol engines: Acetone as a Mileage Additive

I believe that during the petrol shortages in this country during the various times of crisis since WWII people used top-up the tank with cellulose thinners - that's got the glycerine component ! and a tad of methanol. Mind you used to coke up the pots a bit.

I seem to recall that the Diesel fuel used by aeromodellers used to contain a bit of ether ! I think that burns reasonably fast too.

Thinking-on, what are the constituents of the "Daisy-Cutter" fuel -air bombs owned by the U.S. ?

Nick,

Napalm - The smell of victory...

Maybe you should try some of that in the tank hey ;)

By the way just in case anyone doesn't realise THIS IS A JOKE!
