Drivers Wing Mirror - Bits and pieces

Featured Replies

After a scary near miss on a narrow country road the outside edge of my Wing Mirror has been "brutalised" and now has bits missing. The actual mirror has fractured (though thankfully not broken so I can still use it for now).

The good news is that the motor, etc is all fine and still works.

Does anyone know if the outer housing is the same for a manual and electric mirror?

When I go scavenging at the breakers I don't want to have to pay for an adjustment motor I won't need when I could just take the mirror off a lower spec car. Thing is, will the mouldings be there to mount the motor?

Also where's the best place to get the mirror glass? It'll need the contacts for the heater. Try a breakers again?

I have a spare drivers side heated glass which you can have for the cost of postage if you want? It was on my car when I got it, but didn't match the passenger side (which has a blue tint) so I replaced it with a blue tinted one :D

My passenger side is tinted blue, but my drivers isn't!? How strange!

So should they both be plain or both be blue?

Both be blue-ish. My passenger side mirror got stolen in the Czech Republic, and I bought a replacement of ebay for < £20. Just search for Mk4 Golfs as they're a bit more of them about ;)

if it helps I bought a golf glass recently for mine but the prong for the heater elemet are on the outside of the glass not on the inside like the original one.
