windscreen cleaning

Featured Replies

not the outside, the inside :)

only 3k miles done but there has been a buildup of 'scum/haze' on the inside of the windscreen probably due to the aircon. most of the glass/shower type cleaners i have used don't entirely remove it and there is always some residual left - you can see the smears/sworls esp at night when illuminated by oncoming traffic

any products that actually work well to remove this haze and don't leave any smears behind??

thanks

I just got some RainX wipes for interior use and they seem to work really well. :)

I hate cleaning windows - as you say there always seem to be a bit you have missed.

Meguiars NXT Glass cleaner is the best I have found so far.

I rub it on with a kitchen towel, and then wipe off and dry with a microfibre cloth.

I still don't think its the perfect solution, but for me its better than anything else I have tried.

Might be worth having a look on A world for detailers... for other suggestions

I use Mr Muscle glass cleaner and wipe over with kitchen roll..... Then about 5-10 mins later i go over it again with dry kitchen roll and it gets rid of all smears & marks.

Cheers

Dave.

:iagree: Well, except for using boggo supermarket glass cleaner, and the old faithful chamois to do the final polish. I think the secret is the second wipe with something dry and absorbent, whatever that might be...

I can echo that. I also use Meguiars Glass cleaner and apply it in the same method. So far it's been the best product I have used for the windows. I use it for the inside and out. Although it's still my least favourite part of washing the car! :thumbdwn:

Cheap window cleaner from T£$€0 (or whoever), rubbed off with a crumpled sheet of newspaper.

thanks

i think it is the second dry ruboff that really does the business

mr muscle here i come.......

AG Fast glass. Apply sparingly, A couple of squirts front and back screens one on side windows & clean with cotton cloth. Polish with a microfibre cloth. This method works for me

autoglymm does it for my windows

I just use Mr muscle and some scrunched up newspaper.. seems to do the trick for me.

Dampen a lint-free cotton rag with a solution of 2 dessert-spoons of white vinegar in a pint of warm water, wipe over glass, polish off with scrunched-up old newspaper.

Smells awful, works great, cheaper than anything else, environmentally friendly, saves diesel (no shopping).

Works brilliantly on GLASS headlight lenses, not for use on plastic rear lenses or bodywork (doh!).

Lots of newer glass cleaners contain vinegar, but smell of apples (cider-vinegar?).
