Strange noise with new tyres!!

Featured Replies

Had some falken 452's fitted last week, great tyre with loads of grip and great steering response! but since fittted i have a sort of drone noise when slowing down/ braking, this is doing my head in only done it since the tyre's where fitted, could it be a faulty tyre? Any ideas? cheers.

get use to it you are going to have this noise as long as you have this set of tires and later might get louder.

Well in that case then looks like i'll be buying some new tyre's and putting the falkens on the back! Such a shame as they grip really well, thinking about getting goodyear eagles gsd3's.

I had federal tyres for ages on the front and put them on the back to wear the dunlops on the back down. Put new (all were freebies off a mate) federals on the front. Different tread and the noise is just as you say. I believe they are pirellis but their budget tyre. They grip very well and have good wear, but are noisy. Just get a louder exhaust or stereo.

You could always buy my Falken 512's which don't drone

They only car I ever had a drone coming from the wheels was due to a buckled alloy

I have the fk452's on my fronts and have never really noticed a great deal of noise.

Strange.

I had Falkens and they didn't make a noticable noise difference. there may be a slight change in pitch along with lighter steering due to the increased tread. i would have someone have a look at it for you first before throwing money at more tyres or swapping them around. It maybe that having had the wheels off, something has become dislodged on a bearing may have been promted to give up.

Not heard of this one before. Take it back to the tyre place, see what they think.

The 452 are directional... they have fitted them the right way around haven't they?

I'm not getting any noise like that from them.

Does it appear to come from both sides or just one side? Interesting it only happens under slowing down/braking though......

Chris

And take note, look at the sidewalls to check if the tyres are directional. My mum's new car has Bridgestones which are directional but really don't look it from the tread pattern.

Yeah tyres are on the right way, i would say it is coming from the passenger side! The alloys are not buckled. This is bugging me! May have to get it looked soon! It started this noise straight away soon as i pulled out of the tyre place and stopped i heard the noise!
