just had a tunit fitted to my fabia vrs and decided when pritty much flat out in 6th, 130mph at around about 4000rpm it seems to go into what i think is limp home mode, stops accelerating and starts to slow down even though foot is still flat. Once slowed down back to a more reasonable speed the car just lacks any power what so ever and wont let you accelerate hard. Once you turn the engine off and restart again everything seems to be fine and back to normal. One more point, when accelerating through gears and taking the revvs up to around the 4000rpm mark everything seems to be fine its only when flat out in 6th.

any ideas??

well its not exactly a track, its more of an air strip with a few chicanes etc in it.

Mine did this in belgium on the way to the 'Ring last month, it's only done it once before on the ring last year and didn't do it on there this year, even 4-up! switched the ignition off at about 80mph then back on (don't try this at home kids!) and then took it easy. It seems to do it more when the engine is really hot (logical really). Thought something would show up on vag-com but nothing, it was clean.

I tried it on setting 9 (full bore setting) and it did it so i pulled over turned it off and changed the settings down abit to 7. Was ok for abit then it did it again. Its strange because you would think one of the warning lights would come on but nothing!!

It's probably gone on overboost. That is not unheard of even without a tuning box fitted when going flat out.

There will probably be a fault code stored if you are able to check.

Not sure it's anything to do with the box - it's the car protecting itself.... Easier to just not max the car out

everythings fine when going through gears and taking the revvs beyond 4000.

Have you thought about going the dealers and explaining the problem to them?

mind you from previous expeiences my local dealers wouldnt have a clue about anything like that. Think they just stick to servicing etc.

Not always.

You need to get the codes off the car to figure it out. However I would say the car is doing what it's supposed to given your thrashing the nuts off it.

my fabias re-mapped and this exact same thing happened to me when i was doing a similar speed, I lost power. its as though u lose boost and the ecu goes into safe mode.

I had lost power going through every gear. but I switched the engine off and let it sit for a while and the car was fine.

Totally agree with u there mate, but you've really got to kick the hole out the car to make it kick in

I'm guessing that if you can alter the MAP in the ECU it should be able to be disabled as there must be some parameters which trigger limp-home mode.
