Yes, before anyone questions me, I have removed ALL the nuts, but I must admit I did doubt myself at first.

Has anyone has difficulties in getting their back wheels off?

I have a Furby RS and thought that I would take the wheels off to clean them. Front ones, no problem at all, the back ones, well I think I've tried everything, but is there anything that I have missed?

Problem is that the wheel centre has seized on the hib - a very common problem as they are such a tight fit anyway.

This happened to me on the autobahn in Germany recently and a lorry driver gave me a hand - get one lump of wood and a hammer, put the wood across the outside of the rim/tyre and while banging on that side, give the wheel a pull outwards on the opposite side - rotate the wheel and do the same thing and carry on until it loosens and comes off.

Tip, befor re-fitting the wheel, clean up the hub centre with some light emery cloth to remove any corrosion and then coat the face of the hub with copper slip or similar, then next time the wheel will be easy to remove!

Take the bolts off, Pair of strong boots on your feet, protect the wheel with an old cloth and boot it top & bottom alternately.

Failing that, get a rubber mallet on the back

Crow bar between caliper and one of the wheels spoke.....use constant pressure and it should come off.

Remember to grease the hub and around the bolt holes before putting wheel back on.

I had this a few weeks ago with 5 of us trying to do it with no luck, in the end I got the dealer to do it and grease the hubs after.

Seems a common Fabia problem. Mine had it too. As said, a few good hefty kicks or a few cracks with a plastic dead blow hammer will do the trick!

With respect, leave the bolts on when you are thumping the wheel, but loose (about 2 turns in). When the wheel eventually loosens it won't go anywhere.

I had this problem with a Polo. The wheel came off with a rush and hit the jack. I was very lucky the car didn't topple. I know I should have had axle stands etc. but one often learns the hard way!

Thanks for the advice. I called my local dealer earlier who said to just drop it in, as they will get them off. I took it in this afternoon and they instantly went to work on the car. Up on the ramp they happily undone the bolts. After a few firm pulls of the wheels, they went for the crow bar. They were working between the back of the alloy and the hub. They eventualy came off but it did take some time. They removed the rust!! and greased the hub etc and gave the keys back. I was in there for about fifty minutes. I was SO pleased that I had tried to remove them to clean them cos if I'd had a puncture I would have been in a right old pickle.
