Steels?

Featured Replies

16" to fit over the 312's. Same size as the oem alloys.

@youngsyd, no difference in handling at all mate.

You can get 4 steelies, with track tyres at work, for less than 250? go for it :)

Forgot you still had those Dave :D

Still look decent I reckon - although a silver insert, a la G60 steelies, might look good too.

G60 steelies stylie!

just love the old golfs on these wheels

A classic look, for sure

True mate, very true, unless your clued up on your cars.

David

The calipers, trim, bodykit & badging would give it away if you are. Most people on here could (hopefully) spot pretty much any misbadged car, but 99% of the population don't know or care enough to look closely - these are the people who are perhaps going to be surprised. You're not going to fool anyone with anything between their ears without spending a lot of money.

Believe me when I tell you, JUST popping some black steelies on make it much more insignificant.

"WTF is in that??" is quite a common question :)

Hmm....Its v tempting!

well... as i went out to my car this morning i found my front nearside tyre flat, so pulled the steel wheel out of the boot only to notice it has big yellows stickers warning not to go above 50mph!

what the **** is that all about?

its a 16" steel wheel with the exact same tyre and size thats standard on the fabia vrs alloys.

why the speed restriction?

i think i want another 3 steels to match, i like the black and red but the yellow sticker has to go.

Hi,

According the workshop manual the Vrs can have 15" wheels, is that the case, as I intend to 15" steel wheels with winter tyres over the winter. The tyres make such a difference when it is icy and on the occaisions it actually snows, but 15" winter tyres and much cheaper than the equivalent 16".

If you have standard brakes, then yes, you can fit 15" wheels :)

Get T1-R's, better than the S's.

For dry weather or track days I use Toyo 888's, but they don't like cold weather or the wet.

T1-rs are good for track and road use. They are about the best allrounders you will get and not too expensive.

Black, white steels would look so wrong. Maybe silver, but i think that would look dodgy too.

Or some 16" spinner trims ;)

Oh hell no!

I was thinking leaving black.....white may be too much...

Yeah saw that...im not sure on white now either...Black they will be for now!
