PD160 Intake again!

Featured Replies

Does it really have an increase in BHP?

Or is that for mapped cars?

Cant be bothered to do a search to see if its been answered!

No bhp gains, Just revs more freely. Definately worth it on mapped cars

...but at £75 a pop these days, it certainly isn't the 'pikey mod' it used to be - probably too expensive to justify itself without something else going on in the engine bay!

Oh, and:

I got mine when they were cheaper, and Seat hadn't twigged on to this mod yet.

£75

I think I paid £35 for mine a few years ago when I have the Ibiza TDi

Demand for this part has made them rethink the price

I got mine via work, so i got it a bit cheaper....im wondering with the vrs se on here (cant remember whos) put it on the rollers and it was a 15bhp gain or something?

Im not bothered with the gain of bhp as its a certainly good mod for other reasons alone.

Yep, I'm considering getting one just to cut down on the amount of carp that comes out the back end.

Looked like I was towing a thunder cloud behind me last night :(

Carp?? you got fish coming out the back lol sorry couldn't resist it......n i'm bored at work lol lol

I think it does help get a little more air into the system, but without a degree of tuning, it won't do a great deal on it's own.

Thats the answer i wanted mate, cheers!

You have to remember the combustion thing. If you have smoke, that means you're not getting enough air in to burn all the fuel (not sure if you're mapped or not) - So more air helps to get a better fuel burn = possibly more power, but should = less smoke. :)

I have a pretty clean running car now myself because even though my injectors are on flat out I have a big turbo and the pd160 intake to get the air through to burn it all. My smoke is fairly minimal on wide open throttle (that's visible to me from inside my car anyway :D)

Not mapped, yet...!

Ill see what the difference is mate, cheers.

On standard car it revs a bit freer at the higher end of the rev range, but it still wont go too much higher as the fuelling isnt set up for that :)

With a remap the difference is notable :D

i think it is my se you speak of,

File0001.jpg

and for the record it was 25bhp:rofl:

don't think everyone will see these gains from just a pd160 intake,i should have put it on before to see what it made:D

In your above power curve, by clutch power, does that mean power at the flywheel?

If it does, it should be around the standard 130+/- a bit at the wheels??? Hence not a 25bhp increase:confused:

the wheel power is the only true figure the clutch power is a calculation,my wheel power was 143, and 270 ft lbs and the flywheel figure is a calculation done on the rundown, mine didn't have much transmission loss as you can see,so with only a pd160 intake it made these figures, the other results are in the north west meets section,as there was quite a few skoda's there to compare too,if you look i think you will agree these results do appear genuine:eek:

and skoda quoted power figure is at the flywheel,my flywheel figure is 155,hence 25bhp

But we all know yours has been tinkered with :P Have you had a chance to run it with vagcom to get the boost pressures yet?

this is a myth, lies spread by envious people who were green on the day so made up stories to justify there own cars poor performance:P

No one turned up at the malt house with vagcom so we havn't got to the bottom of it yet:D

Hah :D

Whats odd is that it looks standard upto 3k, and if you follow the trend it would theoretically make 140ish, but it seems to have a lease of life later on

You would get to the bottom of it with another run on another set of rollers.

Shame it's all over by 4.5k...

its going on a few sets in the coming months, tbh on a different set,say jabba's i think it would show 160,but we will see:D
