Cruise and M.P.G.

Prolly been done before but do you guys fine much difference on mways between fuel your using when running on cruise against what you would use foot only?

in my Fabia, I find I get slightly better with, due to me being heavy-footed

I actually find a better mpg if I use my foot rather than the cruise control. I guess it shouldn't theoretically make any difference if you maintain an exact constant speed, but if I drive without the cruise on my speed will vary slightly (probably pick up slightly downhill and drop off slightly uphill, I will also vary it well ahead of time if there is any additional traffic appearing etc., rather than leave the cruise on until it needs to be changed or turned off).

I generally use cruise a lot though because it's a nice luxury.

Very little difference.

It's theoretically possible to be more economical using your foot as you can take hills into account more effectively , but using the cruise sensibly certainly won't affect economy greatly.

i only use cruise if i want to stay at a set speed, but found i could probably achieve better mpg by manually adjusting with my foot for downhill situations etc.

I find also not using the cruise control that mpg is better. There was an item on Top Gear once about Jeremy driving to Scotland in an Audi & one of the tips from the boffins for getting better MPG was not to use the cruise control.
