PD160 and Insurance Companies

Featured Replies

This has probably been covered elsewhere but can't find.

I'm thinking of fitting a PD160 to standard Fabia vRS and have asked my insurer if there's likely to be any change in premium for this. Guy there said he'd have to consult their underwriter and get back to me, tomorrow.

I've no idea what the reaction is going to be but would really appreciate some input as to what your insurer's response was to the same request.

what do you mean fitting a PD160? the engine from the ibiza?

whats the point??

no no no, they mean the intake.

Personally I wouldn't tell

Personally I didnt declare it, but did tell them that i had a free flow element and that was covered by "modification to the engine air intake system" which I am confident would have covered the pd160 pipe as well.

Same here ;)

No point in telling them as I don't even think they would know what it was

They will probably quote you on an induction kit and hit you for £50

Just had a call from the insurers; no increase in premium for the PD160 pipe.

That's good news. I've found insurers seem to be more concerned with performance percentage increases so as long as you tell them up front there is no increase then most times it will not affect the premium. Just make sure it's noted down correctly on your policy in case they try and wriggle out of a claim :D

Chris

i have found if they don't know what it is they just seem to note it and not increase the premium:D

That's precisely what my insurer has done.

Not declaring was never really an option for me.

Failing to keep the insurer informed is a perilous business IMO.

From what i believe you do not need to quote panel filters as they are just a replacement and use the standard air intake, just what i've heard

I agree, but better safe than sorry especially when it didnt affect my premium
