Airbag Light On

Featured Replies

Had the front tyres replaced today, when I got the car back the Airbag Light is on.....any ideas (I haven't got access to VagCom at the moment). Although Car going into dealers on Monday.

Probably an obvious one, but someone hasn't disabled the passenger airbag with with the switch in the glove box have they?

Disabling the passenger airbag will bring up the warning light under the climate control buttons.

I think GAFF is referring to the airbag warning light on the dash. Nothing to do with the problematic connectors under the seats is it? My previous car had that problem and needed a new connector. Maybe someone jumped in the car and whacked the seat back when moving it.

off topic i know gaff, but what tyres did you get and how much as i reckon i'll need a couple meself shortly...

I was going to say underseat connectors. Could be that the tyre fitter moved the seat and moved the connectors.

If you can get VAG-COM on it then it'll be -

1217 001

Igniter for side airbag on driver’s side – N199

Top limit value exceeded

1218 001

Igniter for side airbag on passenger’s side – N200

Top limit value exceeded

If it's the connectors.

It's likely as I think mine came up after someone shoved the passenger seat back in a heavy handed, ham fisted manner :thumbdwn:

Underseat sounds like it could be a good place to look. I put a seat cover on while they had it, also have chain sitting under there, Jaysus I hope he didn't bust the connector.

If the connector is disconnected or not seated will it take Vag-Com etc to reset it or will it reset itself when it realises its re-connected?

@ Czechmate - I got Goodyear Eagle F1's GSD3 (I hope ;), I had a quick look but didn't see the GSD3 part but Mcgyver tells me its small) I'll be after Mcgyver i there no good :D, worked out at 165 a corner. Give me a buzz if your going over.

I had the rears replaced a few weeks ago and they put a mark on the wheel edge, they had a guy in yesterday who sorted it while getting the fronts done, he done a good job.

Btw Could you have a look on vagdrivers and put you comments in about the Xenon kit you have, theres a guy thinking about an RS

It's subject to a TSB Colm. Requires new connectors to be fitted normally.

 The dealer mentioned this the minute I told him about it coming on. The car is in getting stuff done at the moment so hopefully this will also get sorted.

Let me know if you want to get VAG-COM onto the car.

On the subject of tires. I went from Goodyear Eagle F1s to Federal SS395s. I couldn't believe the difference. The Eagle F1's are average compared to these ones. And the best thing is, they were 89 yoyos a corner.
