N95: Conversation

Featured Replies

I think we'll need a Tech Shed sub-forum for this phone soon :D

Haven't spotted people on here mentioning it, but I've just put Nokia Conversation on tonight. Very handy for managing text messages. Plugs itself into Contacts, and allows sorting of messages by person. Allows you to delete in groups etc.

Just thought I'd mention

Steve

Got it from Nokia labs last week, it is V good like.

Think I spotted it on that 'speed up' guide link you posted in one of the other threads, so

Nokmote too - superb!

It is a marvelous device once you get to know it properly (so to speak) as an aside I went into the Apple shop yesterday and had a play with the iPhone. Very slick user interface but the TV ad should be looked at for misleading advertising. No way is the internet that fast on the iPhone, and the youtube app takes abso****inlutely ages to load up. Apple released at least three more versions of the iPod by the time the Dancing Penguin video loaded up.

Nokia N95 - much quickness

Apple iPhone - much slickness

Apple iPhone - much slickness

Much priciness - £269 and then 18 months contract bumps total cost upto £899 if I saw correctly.

Not had a proper look at the iPhone yet, but I'm not surprised by what you say. Apple are very good at the old marketing game :)

Great device the N95, has restored my faith in Nokia. Two issues at the moment, one being a way of increasing battery life, either by an uprated cell or increased phone energy efficiency. And second, getting it to talk properly to my Alpine headunit :grumpy:

There is a small app you can DL to remedy the bluetooth sync problem, but I can't for the life of me remember where I've seen it posted. I'll keep looking.

Just found this neat trick to allow you to watch youtube much quicker than connecting via the web browser. the only problem is there's no search facility that I'm aware of, you just get a list of vids. And you can watch vids over WiFi dispite what the tipster says....

Are you thinking of the details Tony listed out, here ? (in your N95 Questions thread)

Tried that approach, but no joy unfortunately...

ha ha that's the one I was thinking of, more beer anyone? I'll still keep a look out though to see if owt crops up.

I quite like the look on nokmote, but its not out yet :(

The lack of battery time seems to be most peoples bug bear but can I ask all you up to date techno people that have one.......how much are you using the phone and what for?

It seems pointless having a phone with all this stuff on if you are not using it so I'm not expecting anyone to come back with a silly small amount of play time, but I just want to get a realistic idea of what you are actually using the battery on and if I am likely to be the same.

TVML :)

had a look at the iphone the other day. its very impressive to look at, but going back to 2g internet speeds?? no thanks!!

when using my n95 as a mobile modem for the laptop i can stream video with no problem! and thats also quite decent res video not just youtube.

been using the lightsaber prog for a while, my mates phone is now in for repair after his first play with light saber prog resulted in him launching it across the room! LOL!!!

Hmmmmmm might have to have a look to see if it'll work on the N73...... Can't see why it wouldn't.

Cheers

Dave.

Just had a look and yes it does work with the N73. :D:D:D

I'll give it a go tonight when i get home.

Cheers

Dave.

I would imagine the iPhone ad where it uses YouTube is most probably via the WiFi connection, the iPod touch has WiFI and the YouTube app and it loads a full video in about 3 or 4 seconds.

The N95 is still the daddy of smartphones though :D

As for the N95 battery issue, i've found a miracle solution to it...........................

Car charger :P

Ive had conversation on for a while... handy app, except it does start to slow down the contacts directory when you build up the number of messages, ive recently trimmed mine down to 1500, but with 4000 messages id have to wait 30s before i could select a number after starting contacts

It's all g®eek to me:rofl:

And before you start Bengie, it's humour.

Something you could do with an upload of.

There is always the more 'traditional' upgrade for one's mobile phone if the N95 isn't your 'thing'................;)

I'll assume your talking to me even though you seem unable to spell my name correctly but hey its not like you've ever pulled anyone up for spelling errors

a humor upload? me?

you can always tell the people that either don't actually know me or haven't actually met me :)

but yes i am a miserable git that never smiles, never laughs, never makes jokes and never gets jokes. i never get that sarcasm thing either

Anyone know how to make coreplayer the default for video and streaming folks? I'm using ORB but every time it loads up in real player then has some quirk or other that makes it pack in.

I know I can change the stream properties on ORB to 3gp for example, I did this but the 95 still launches real player .....

Col ....... Loz ......... Steve ........... Yoda? anyone help? :)

I've had a look about on the default app question Tony, and I can't see a way you can do it :(

I just tend to go into Core, then find the file I want to play. Agree though, would be nice to 'associate' it properly...

Col - any ideas?! :)
