claim, should be worth a few hundred quid to you for the hassle and it will serve the ignorant bugger right!

The ignorant buggers insurance companies underwriters more like.

insurance companies are thieving sods, swmbo got knocked off her bike last year by a bloke opening his car door without looking, he was super appologetic, brought her home(1/8 mile), gave all his details, accpeted full responsibilty to both us and the insurers yet they still argued it

anyway here we are about 15 months on and it should be all over with in the next month or so with swmbo being a few grand better off financially(but having suffered 2 fractured elbows, weeks off work and still can't straighten one arm properly or pull a suitcase with her right hand(she's right handed).

i hate insurance companies.

best of luck with your claim mate as it doesn't sound as though you have done anything wrong but different people see things in different ways, last week i joined the A34 at boars hill to those that know it and passed a coach in the slow lane on the slip road right at the top but as i got in front of him(still two lanes and maybe 100 yards or more from the bypass) he starts flashing his lights at me and waving in funny ways as if i had done something wrong, then a lorry flashed and beeped at me then tailgated me after i exited a round about into the right hand lane from the correct lane on the round about, he was on my left and maybe a car length or two back so we weren't even close considering we only doing about 25mph in a 40 zone.

I am going though the same thing at the mo as i was backing onto my drive (only half on )she then backed into the front of my car £1300 worth of damage it was all the others drivers fault (which she admitted ) but then spoke to her husband and father who in turn have changed her mind and now she is saying its my fault.

In my opinion insurance companys are not worth the money we pay them.

But i would say you where not at falut but i think you are going to have to get ready for a fight as for some reason never black and white with insureance companys.

thats confused me slightly there, where did she reverse from?

in the middle of the road as she was blocking my drive and only moved her car when she seen my drive past then she moved her car for me to get on my drive then she was going to block it again as her mam& dad live nextdoor but as i started backing onto my drive she thought she would reverse before i got on my drive

so you were half into your driveway, she was alongside you and decided to reverse and ended up reversing into the front of your car from the side?

silly cow.

:iagree:

I've noticed something very common amongst some insurers - they often say they can't locate the 3rd party (even with reg numbers, insurance details, witnesses!) and then whack up your premium at renewal. Had this ages ago when I made a claim - they said don't worry, your NCB won't be affected it's a non-fault claim (was shunted). Just before renewal, they informed me that they couldn't locate the 3rd party & the accident would be recorded as my fault! No win situation with insurers, but managed to get that one overturned. Good luck to the original poster - think he should get the claim without his NCB being affected. Word of advice - you get what you pay for & IMHO some of the supermarket insurers aren't up to it. Sometimes it's worth paying an extra 5-10% to be with a broker as they'll do all of the legwork for you when it comes to claiming. :)

Firstly thanks for all the feedback guy's and there is no way I'm settling for a 50/50 claim it is 100% his fault I was already past him doing 25 in a 50 in rush hour traffic, he was doing more like 5 and I still don't understand why he pulled out? Idiot

Ok an update.

I've had the assessor round and he says he shouldn't see any problems as there is no damage to just to the front of my car and the damage is all towards the rear. As it's all on the side and cars can't drive sideways and the others guy's damage is all on the front it's hard to contest.

He also said he would be back in touch if the other party comes up with a **** and bull story to argue it.

Since he left I have had a call from a company called hire help, they claim to have been reffered by my insurers to take over my part of the claim and arrange to repair my car and claim the costs from the other parties insurance co, basically do all the chasing for me. Has anyone heard of these and had dealings? Basically I get to choose what happens regarding the repair rather than the other insurance company calling the shots.

Should I leave it with my insurers to wait for the other insurance company to come back to them or go ahead with the hire help? (I am checking with my insurance company before doing anything)

I have never had to deal with this before and to be honest it's actually quite confusing.

This happend to our ibiza when it was 3 months old.

A police car came out of a side road and ran striaght into the side of it. my brother who was driving at the time was arrested and breathalized.

Eventually after months of letters and phone calls the police claimed liability for the incedent, as we had a pedestrian whitness who said it was no fault of my brother but the police driver at fault.

Good luck

I read that poilice kill over 50 people a year in there cars and only 30% of them are on blue light runs!

Go to your local Police station and formally report it, ask for a copy of the report. Witnesses will help if you have any. Was he alone in his car.

If no-one was injured, they won't care.

You need to check your insurance policy, most insurers now use a third party to chase the other company and ease you through the claim, work in your interest,to make the most of the claim and save the said insurance company money

It has appeared to work for me though I have not received my next years cost yet!

Thanks for all your help guy's looks like this isn't going to cost me a penny which is the way it should be as it wasn't my fault.

It's all sounding good at the moment, let's hope it all goes your way mate

Make sure you go over your car with a fine toothcomb and make sure you are happy with the repair job
