Hi from Northern Ireland(flywheel probs)

Featured Replies

Joined this in the hope of getting some answers to a serious problem..Theres loads of info but nothing that answers my question directly..I drive an A5 octavia 1.9tdi.At 51000miles the dual mass flywhell was replaced and now at only 56000 miles its gone again.:thumbdwn:This time they are also replacing the starter motor and gear ****. As the warranty runs out in december, will my new flywheel be covered with any warranty??..Im lookin to buy a new car shortly and the Octavia was top of my list but if they are still fitting these faultly (maybe not the correct word) flywheels,is it worth it..The dealer has told me he hasnt had any problems recently with the flywheels so it may have just been a faulty batch..I know of four other local Octavia owners who have suffered the same problems although none of them have suffered it twice..

Have SKODA cured this problem with the new cars they sell?

Thanks for any help.

so its not only me so far when the car had 34 thous on clock i had to have the cluch and flywheel replaced under warenty, then starter started grinding like the bendix wasnt going back right,so got new started thet lasted for 2 weeks before it did the same, was replaced it lasted 3 weeks so took it back they sayd the only thing that was cause it was clutch dust of a worn clutch, now the new starter is doing it again and now the clutch they put in has gone so now i have to get new clutch replaced as its just out of warrenty, wonlt touch a skoda for a long time, also im from belfast an a taxi driver and out of our depot we have maybe 200 skodas and id saw 40% of those have had to have cluch and flywheel sorted within 35 thous miles

Hello and welcome. Think a faulty batch is most likely cause, though not sure.
