Easiest way to 300bhp? (Octy VRs)

Featured Replies

As title says really....how can I get my 06 Octy VRs to 300bhp, what cost & what supporting work needed?? :D

Chris

Serious point to consider is the insurance implications and reliability implications of a heavily modified car.

If it was me I'd be trading in the Octavia and spending the money on a car that comes with 300bhp as standard or with just a simple remap.

I would think to get to 300bhp you would need:

- Bigger turbo

- Performance Exhaust

- Uprated clutch

- Maybe some engine mods if stronger parts are needed

- Remap

and probably a list of things as long as my arm that I have forgotten

Easiest way? Buy mine

By a cupra R as they have BAM engine and much cheaper to get 300hp from.

it cost alot for a car that can't take the power to well (lower speeds) high speed not a problem but licence is shredded to easy.

Why not spend money on getting chassis and brakes done as cornering and stopping make for more everyday fun

Agreed this is the best route. If you have an Octy already, you could sell on get say £4 to £5 k or more depending on year etc. Then top it up a bit and buy Q's. Try do it yourself and you will easily spend in excess of £5K (when you look at brakes, suspension and the like). I know, I've been there.

oi you lot its an 06 so a mk2 ;)

no one has got them upto 300bhp on yet mate sorry but you'll be looking at a new turbo, possibly manifold, fmic, remap, possibly injectors, exhasut, intake. lots and lots basically.

To get the BWA engine to 300hp would require some parts from the Cupra or S3 or similar.

Turbo

Intercooler

Diverter valve (Forge or S3 relocation)

Possibly a Fuel pump

Custom Remap

You might wish to wait for the Stage III kits REVO are working on.

From reading about what the guys in the US are up to the internals should be ok.

So basically back to the original suggestion of sell it and go buy a car with 300bhp from the factory or easy remap alone ;)

doesn't someone already make a K04 fitment thing for it?

The most that I'm aware is currently possible is around the 260bhp mark (may be a little more) which includes an additional FMIC, CAI, Stage II remap and a few other bits pieces. As stated before, to achieve a genuine 300bhp you are looking at StageIII from APR which includes a new turbo but as far as I'm aware no one has tried it on the Octavia vRS yet (not in this country anyway) REVO are currently developing there alternative but is still in development I believe.

The States is where most of the development work is being carried out on the 2.0TFSI with the Golf lads benefiting from new software and components before we get anything comparable in Europe!

Thanks guys.....maybe I'll get a cheap Fiat Coupe & mod that instead. What you think? Anyone got or driven one?

I'd suggests a 535i instead

You want to track down Welshy - he loves his Fiat Coupe. Only thing to be aware of is the cam belt service is very expensive so buy one that's just had it done!

Alternatively, just get yourself a Jap import Scooby/Evo/Supra/Skyline as they're available for not much cash already knocking on the door of 300bhp :D

Chris

Sorry if 06 is mk2 as mk1 also still sold the but atleast if mk2 the chassis can cope better and the gearbox is stronger but will still cost about 5k to do.

It really depends on how much you like the car, but atleast it copes much better than mk1 which is always a bonus when front drive. Its also cheaper to run than prezza or evo but maybe less fun

I think Jim at Star Performance has already done this car upto 300 maybe give him a call

ps stay clear of fiat they fall appart but are very quick when working

There is a chap at my work who has his Fiat Coupe worked over with a GT28? turbo. It is producing 320 ish bhp so I'm told.

fiat would be no cheaper to get to 300bhp, you could buy an import evo 5 for half the money of doing a big turbo on the skoda :D

The recently released upgrade kit in the US is shaping up to be a cheap option. Circa £1500 at current exchange rates. Add in £600 for your remap and that ought to give 300 they reckon.

plus fitting ;)

Can't imagine it would be a problem for a man of your unique abilities

can you fit a turbo with a hammer and a blowtorch?

Might need a stilson as well but hammer and blowtorch are a good start.

In order to get anywhere near 300 bhp from the BAM engine, you would need to change the turbo.

Therefore, the exact same modifications would need to be done to the 2.0 vRS Turbo engine.

Plus the Cupra R has a smaller engine, so theres no point in that at all.

What do you see in that, that's a good idea?

The thread was about an 06 Octy vRS which I assume is a 2.0TFSi, therefore upgrading a 1.8 225hp BAM wouldn't be of much use to you.
