green cotton filter question

Featured Replies

Could anyone who has a green cotton panel filter tell me if they come new oiled or is it necassary to oil before fitting a new one:confused:

Thanks for your help guys:thumbup:

I think they come ready to fit.

no idea about oil, but i just fitted mines straight in, im not too bothered about cleaning it etc as i would just rather buy a new one when it gets dirty

They come ready oiled. The oil traps dirt so you only need to re-oil it after you've cleaned it (as the cleaning process removes the oil) :D

It'll be dirty within 5-7k miles. It's much cheaper to just clean it!

Im about to clean my green panel filter, what oil should i use on it after i've cleaned it?

Cheers Paul.

The Green filter company oil. They sell little spray bottles of it.

That nearly defeats the whole point.

Clean and re oil. The oils is about £5. Use washing powder/liquid to clean the filter, dry in the oven on 50c for about 10 mins.

Of course if you have the money to jus throw it away every 5k then perhaps you might be better off buying something more befitting your income ;)

If you're going to throw them away every 5k you will get better filtration from an OEM one. If you change that every 5k you will probably also get similar performance.

where can you get the cleanin oil from cos i think i am going to clean mine soon not sure on the mileage done need to check the jbs paperwork....it is easy to get the filter out then? do you scrub it or just soak it in hot water and washing up liquid cheers many thanks

Check site sponsors. You need the real oil TBH but it does go a long way.

Warm water, laundry detergent and a soft paint brush mar the way forward:thumbup:

you can get the service packs from ebay, costs a tenner or so.

Btw I cleaned mines ;), last weekend in fact, after 7k it was manky

mine is much happier with the oem one in and a vaccum round once every month to two months.
