Graphics

Featured Replies

Hello there,

I have a question for somebody...

I am looking at a new laptop and the Graphics details are different on one website to another for the same product....

I like my ACER laptops and this one has.....

1) ATI X2300 Dedicated Graphics or

2) Mobile Intel GM965 Express Chipset

Are they both ok? I don't game on a computer at all by the way.

Thanks,

Ben

if your not going to use it for gaming then don't worry in the slightest as every new video chip is more than good enough for windows etc.

The ATI will be a bit faster for games and might add a few nice accelerations to Vista. It will however consume more power than the intel one.

I have an Acer Aspire 5633 and it comes in various guises - better graphics or bigger HDD or more RAM, etc.

I went for the one with the Intel 950 onboard graphics as I don't use it for gaming and it is more than up to the job of watching DVDs, etc.

Great machines, I got mine for £499 with 120GB HDD and 1GB Ram, all the other usual stuff from ebuyer inMarch and love it.

The only slight complaint is the battery life is just too short when watching a DVD on it, if watching from the HDD you can get 2 episodes of Prision Break and 20 mins surfing afterwards in your scratcher :D

I was looking at the Acer Aspire 7720 Gemstone Laptop (£749 on Tesco Direct) so I can use it mainly for work.

Thanks for the help, think I'll go for the Intel Chipset. :)
