Yeah, nice one Phil. I might let you out of junctions more often now ;)

Hey guys. Just got off the phone with the swan. They have availability for us. Said 6 as wasn't entirely sur of numbers but is a profisional booking at the moment.

Its £21.25 for the xmas dinner! But said they'd be happy to offer meals from the normal menu if there wasn't a suitable choice on xmas menu, but don't really think we can just go in on the evening and choose off normal menu.

She said they would need our choices before hand and a deposit too!

Not entirely what we were after don't think... I know all I had in mind was a little get together over a pint and steak or something... A bit more casual.

Anybody know of anywhere else in the area that will be more suitable. Just some pub somewhere doing pub meals??

Is it worth considering making it a mid-afternoon meet on Sun 23rd?

Might be a bit quieter than mad Friday, and easier to get food for those that want it!

We went on the Thursday before Xmas last year, and although we had to stand for a bit and glower at people we did manage to get a couple of tables together to accomodate us all. So we could wing it on the Friday and hope for the best. Or we could get one of our Warrington residents to take the afternoon off and camp out in the pub all afternoon ;)

I'm also happy to do the Christmas dinner thing, but that will be difficult as we'll need numbers soon, and deposits to sort out.

Something at the weekend is also fine by me. That also gives us the option of heading out into the sticks and maybe finding somewhere a bit quieter.

I'm easy :)

(but the Swan is part of Xmas tradition)

oh... and I might have to bring the wife and kids if it's at the weekend

rite... not knowing the area its hard for me to say.

so as far a I see it we have two options...

go on the friday as planned and do what was suggested. just take our chances. maybe meet a tiny bit earlier about 6:30 for that plan. and if we can't get a table then we can always just hav a drink there and go somewhere else if people want food (suggestions welcome as I don't have a clue of anywhere else).

or...

we change it to the 23rd and go earlier say between 3 & 4 and then if people want to eat they can a bit later.

I'm good for both days so any comments/suggestions welcome!

Well it has to be the swan because it's tradition, as has been mentioned :D

I'm easy either way really, if people are happy to book then we can do, if not then maybe someone close by could there there early to try save us a table. I'll set off as soon as I can but it isn't just round the corner. Most times we do have to wait a little while for a table, but I'm sure we're capable of propping up the bar for a short while before being seated :)

Yeh... i think this is seaming to be the best plan..

Just turn up and see what happens.

Im off that day so i would be able to get there a little bit ealier.

So... its looking like Friday 21st for all who can attend... 6:00pm on-wards.

I will aim to be there between 6:30 and 7:00.

Phil

Col D, the first xmas meet at the swan, I turned up a little bit late and the only clue I had as to who to look for was from seeing a picture of Col D at the cat and fiddle wearing what looked like Orange clown shoes :D which in my ignorance turned out to be race boots and the comment had Col G choking on his llama burger.....

Remember it well!

Count me in, just drop me a pm or definite time/place.

Might be worth booking a table at the swan, which you can do now I understand.

Im still up for it too...

As far as im aware, were still going ahead with the friday 21st at 6:30-7:00.

Didn't think you could book a table there unless you were having crimbo lunch?

yea fri 21st as early as possible. Are we going to have anything to know who everyone is, cos I remember someone once came along, didn't know who they were looking for and left again.....

maybe anyone who is going should post a pic of themselves on this thread lol.... it's either that, or badges, or something to put on the table ;)

If we were all getting there at the same time we could meet in the car park and just look out for skoda drivers.... but you might end up be-friending an elderly couple in there lil' favorit/felicia or something!! hehe

Plus we probably won't be all able to arrive at the same time... but it would make things a lot easier.... i'll aim for 6 me thinks!

If not we will have to think of a cunning plan..... hehe

We could have another northern convoy

Another northern convoy?? Whats thats?

Last year Neo and I met Loz on the M6 to ensure she didn't end up in Birmingham. Therefore at least three cars arrived together. I think she's got some dodgy satnav unit she uses now, so convoy may not be necessary

I'm not sure I'll be able to get there as early as 6.30, but I'll try.

Ahhhh so THATS how I got there when I went on my own!! I did wonder pmsl!!! I had forgotten lol

No, I don't have any sat nav yet, so I'll have the same problem lol. I may want to meet up with you again lol.

Yea, people post a pic up .... and phil, do you have anything random, like a bight coloured scarf that you could put on the table for ppl to look for??

I may pop over and lower the tone, will be past 9pm when/if i get there though :)

Lol... which direction are you driving from?

I will be heading south from Lancaster down the M6 then wherever my lil' sat-nav takes me! hehe

I will have a look/think about what ive got that could be used to identify the Briskoda table. lol

All welcome even if its a bit later! The more the merryer!!
