Result of my fabia Vrs on the rolling road

Featured Replies

Last week I said that I was taking my vrs to the rolling road, well saturday came and the car really really surprised me.

The car went on the rollers and had it's two runs.

I got called into the wee booth and the man from Dastek goes" What have you done tuning wise?"

I said nothing only had the car two months and as far as I'm aware it is totally standard engine wise

The man from Dastek then goes onto say that the car produced 152.7bhp at 261 lbft of torque.

I've never had such a smile on my face and I'm still wearing it.

I don;t know what the last owner done to the car but I'm reaping the rewards for it.

This is similar to another fella on here (oilburninut?) - not bad for a '130' bhp engine, eh? :)

he probably did nothing ;)

It has been known for standard fabia's to come off with similar flywheel results. What year is your car on? I only ask as i am starting to see a pattern emerging where the BLT engined cars are producing more power in standard from than the asz engines.

I am sure oilburningnut will be along shortly with his evo slayers graph

Not bad at all mate, is there any mods on the car engine wise, I had heard that these engines do much more but was not expecting 20bhp increase!

Nice one .

The only thing I would say is I have two print offs from rolling roads for my car and they vary alot. In fact about 20 bhp. One read 172.3bhp and another 190.4. Not sure how they can be that far apart, If anyone knows!!!!

Does temperture affect the result another guy on the rollers had 108bhp last year but this year got 116bhp and he has not touched the car, even if tempertures came into it that can't put on a 22bhp increase??

So's mine, as i cannot afford to go on a rolling road i will assume that mine also has 150bhp!

I think it does to an extent, took my lexus in for a session and it got 394 at 22degrees c and 401 bhp at 16 degrees.

But the fabia had the same temp when done. So im confused, But i take the highest reading of course:thumbup:

It must be because the yellow ones are the best .......;)

Well said mate

hey my is 04 BUT it is also yellow, maybe it has similar output :o)

In an old post I wrote that my standard SE had been tested and was 151 HP but only 200 ftlb of torque.

I was speaking to a guy at work and he said standard ones can hit 148bhp, as autocar tested one a couple of years ago

Mine is an 04 and yellow, so yours could have 190 bhp like mine..........

Temperature has a very large effect on engine output. It is all to do with air density cold dense air allows an engine to give more power output. Warm / hot air is less dense so there is consequently less output from the engine it is volumeric efficency the more cold dense air that can be crammed into an engine the better. Similarily altitude affects engine output, an engine will perform greater at sea level than it would at 10,000 feet where the air is less dense.

Got a couple of pics from the rolling road day of the car on the rollers and off and a pic of a octavia vrs which was also up.

It could be possible that they are producing those figures standard. Reason i'm thinking is i have seen one produce 150bhp and then he got it remapped and tested on the same RR the result only 20bhp increase. I would have imagined if the RR was way out that there would have been more than a 20bhp increase on the same RR?

Me and 11 mates are heading up to Dastek this weekend, im taking my fabia, only mod is a K and N panel filter as far as im aware which i put in last week, so will let you know how i get on.

Well done davy! Congrates on the outcome, I said it would be over the standard 130BHP! Mines april 05 but its silver, i hope mines up on BHP!

Thanks mate, I'm going to try and get the graph up later so that everyone can see the figures.

I will say one thing it's a smoker when it's on a rolling road, I have one video where one of my mates walks behind the car when it is on the rollers and gets covered in the black stuff. Out of the three diesels which were there think mine was the biggest smoker.

That would suggest it's overfuelling quite heavily, which would certainly explain the higher-than-standard output. Seeing how that sort of thing can be altered by mucking about with various sensors, it could be that your fuel temperature sensor is at the lower end of the resistance tolerance, thus mimicking the EVRY-mod, or (I don't know if this is possible) the ECU has 'learned' to overfuel based on your driving style. Whatever the reason, it's a happy accident for you, that's for sure!

Take It to Star the next time you get a chance and compare it with their dyno for your own info.

Not that the figures matter anyway, its how you find it drives that really counts. Not a huge fan of Dastek for various reasons but I wont start a smear campaign here

I was thinking of taking it to star for it's service next year as a friend I work with knows the owners up there, so might have another shot on the rollers.

I've been to Dastek twice and can't fault them

Would he have a noticiable reduction in MPG if it was overfueling?
