Clearance to remap!

Featured Replies

I have been given the green light from my insurer to remap my octy vRS. :D

Any opinions that you have on the best tuners around the south east (Hertfordshire) area that I should use would be gratefully received (e.g. AMD, Jabba)

Does a remap noticeably affect MPG? or is that a stupid question?

Cheers

The remap itself won't affect your MPG, but the way you drive it after a remap might... ;)

If you start "proper booting it" everywhere, it'll be worse.

If you use the power to accelerate up to speed quickly and then cruise, MPG will be better...

Rob.

Since mine was done, and once the novelty factor has worn off. I manage around 38mpg, not bad considering. Remap was done by Jabba, they just outside peterborough. AmD is another option, located in Bicester. Both are custom remaps done using a rolling road.

I had my Fabia vRS re-mapped at AMD in Bicester and am well chuffed with it. my mpg is better than it was before, but as mentioned if you use all that power it will knock the fuel consuption right down.

Mpg: will go down but that's due to you enjoying the remap. I can get 40+mpg on motorways IF I show restraint. :D

I can't really quote for AmD but Jabba are regularly producing 230+bhp. I guess AmD get something similar.

So what to do?

We get a 10% discount at Jabba for group buys...so this will get you a custom remap for

Had our Octy Diesel mapped by Jabba & the results are stunning, also the MPG when cruising has improved considerably.

Jabba also did Jons "Taxi" which performed rather well at Bruntingthorpe

Spot the common word in all the previous posts "Jabba", there's your answer

Cheers guys, appreciate the advice - I have emailed Jabba to see if they have a device like the OneClick, I would have thought that if I changed my car AMD could reprogramme the one click to work with another 1.8 t VAG variant thus protecting some of the cash invesment in the remap. Hopefully Jaba can offer this??

Jabba don't have a One Click type system at the moment.....although if there is enough interest something might happen.

They do now offer OBD port programming for the 1.8T, which gives no visual indication of remapping. The car can then also be easily reprogrammed back to standard although, would require a trip back to Jabba but woul dnot cost anything extra.

I believe that the One Click system offered by AmD could be transferred to another car if you had a generic map. If you had a custom remap which is done on the rolling road then the map, although could be transferred, would not be optimum for your car.

You could opt for Jabba's variable boost controller along with the remap, like I am going to do as soon as Adrian confirms the group buy. (Adrian?) Details of that device can be found on Jabbasport's site here.
