Garage's that can't balance wheels!

Featured Replies

Well it shock's me how many tyre place's can not seem to balance wheels right!

I had 2 new tyres fitted a while ago and of course got them balanced....then day later im back at the same place with wheel wobble!

So get them balanced again, they where out (strange) this time i asked them to check the back wheels and so they needed balancing too.

Car still did not feel right and i was getting wheel wobble at 80mph on the motorway very annoying so yet again back to another garage this time.

Car felt even worse this time and wheel wobble was still there but seemed faint but there all the time!!!! Arghhhhh!!!

Well today i went to protyre in exeter and guess what! yep all four wheels out of balance!

Cost me £25 but now the car is solid no wheel wobble at all, what a joke though how many more out there that can not get it right, i think a lot of this is down to crap equipment! Rant over.

It's because the skill has been taken out of balancing and they just rely on what the computer tells them. My advice is once you find a good place, stick with them! :D

For sure, i wont be going anywhere else from now on.

that rather "fast fit" national chain are crap for it too.

I have had 2 tyres start leaking at the rim later after getting them fitted new.

I bought 5 second hand alloys with tyres off ebay and some don't have any weights on so got to go get those balanced if I want to use them. Also suppose I've got to be hoping none's buckled.

I remember seeing somewhere that you could get some sort of thing you put your wheel over the top of like a spirit level with a bubble in the middle, you put your weights on and aim to get the bubble in the middle. Not sure if anywhere sells anything like that now?

they are available on ebay, but are not cheep. they were once what all garages used to use

Well Paul, you should know better than use "them", now you know me...

We use a system called "Haweka" to balance the wheels it replicates the wheel studs/bolts on the car and is good enough for Pirelli to give us a Gold fitting centre status;)

This is EXACTLY what happened to me too. They only sorted it out when I had new tyres fitted, I had been driving with a wobble ever since my missus kerbed it in the first week all the way until I got the second set. Spotty little oiks who take no care !
