Coolant level warning light

Featured Replies

Hi there

I have been having issues with the coolant level indicator flashing on the dash when starting up cold.

previously when this was topped up the warring ceased as you would expect. Now however it is slightly over the max level line and it is still triggering.

When I drive for about 2mins tho and restart it doesn't come on any more until cold at the end of the day when I drive home. And then same thing a restart after 2 mins resets it and it does't come on again.

There are no leaks and the engine does not overheat in anyway.

Any ideas

Thanks Unc

Firstly Welcome to Briskoda :wavey:

Secondly welcome to the other club

It's been happening with mine on and off for about 8 months now. I have not got round to having it fixed.

From what others have said on here it's a faulty level sensor. I keep a close eye on the coolant levels and give the engine a chance to warm up a little before switching off ignition and restarting it seems to be OK.

Welcome

As Barrie says it's a bit of a known problem and is often the level sensor. Nothing too major to fix.

Hi,

A word of warning.

Our Fabia has been doing this for over a year now and nobody can find a fault. We just kept an eye on the water levels (which were always fine) and the temperature gauge was always normal.

We have just spent £340 for a new coil and fan etc as the car finally broke down as there is definitely a fault within the cooling system. We got the car back on Wednesday and when I started it this morning the warning light came on immediately. Why can't anybody find the cause????

Annette

This is happening to my vRS aswell, reading other threads this is a common fault with a sensor in the header tank. Guy I know at seat also says its common fault on leons. A new header tank from skods is about 10 quid or cleaning the contats to this sensor has helped solve this problem for quie a few people.

If your lucky enough to still be in warenty then its a matter of finding a dealer who aknowlages it as a common fault, should make the process smother and less painfull, no battles to fight.
