Phaeton

Spotted this yesterday. Thought it was quite an appropriate plate

Photo could be better I know, but I think you can just about make it out. It was a quick pic, in the rain

Sorry Steve, what does it say?

1 VW I think :)

Indeed

Yeah, I know - crap photo...

Will grab a proper shot, if I see it again, was parked up outside work.

mmm VW Phaeton, lovely car, but would you the Phaeton, or will you the Audi?

Under £20k for an early 3.0 derv now. Not much more for an early W12.

tough question.. i really like the phaeton! But an S8 would win hands down i think. I think the phaeton is more worthers original, compared to the S8's im gonna pimp your wife and daughter!!

That car is in Hyde, in Cheshire.

Well it is during the day.

The guy who owns it, owns a company in hyde (Can't remember name) But looked at this plate a while ago, as is my mums initials.

He must have only just got this car, as it used to be on a normal Passat last time I saw it.

I work just around the corner from VW HQ, and they were unloading 3 Phaetons from a transporter the other day.

I'd rather have the S5 that I sometimes see coming and going, though!

Good stuff, a bit of extra info - I like it. It was parked up in Altrincham, so not too far from Hyde :)

I'd love one of these and do seem to be appearing at tempting prices for used ones :rubchin:

Just the amount of precision engineering that's gone into them, and attention to detail - staggering...

Steve

didn't the ex boss of VW want to make his perfect car and so the phaeton was born? thats what i heard anyway!!

Yep.

As many members already know, I'm really lusting over a 3.0 V6 TDI Phaeton, they are simply stunning. For £20k you can get either a 3.0 V6 or 5.0 V10 diesel, but for £16k you can get the 6.0 W12 or the 3.2 V6 petrols...

Get the V10 diesel... stunning engine!

Did you ever see the Taureg with the V10 TDI pulling the jumbo jet!!!???

But the Audi is a pretty good contender... but i do love diesels and would probably like the V10 TDI more...

I'd love a V10, just not 20mpg.

30mpg in the 3.0 is bad enough!!!

mmm.... :D

I would plump for the V10 TDI Phaeton, superb car.

Even if I only kept it for a year at least I can say "been there, done that"

I'm seriously considering one in the next few years once the house moving rubbish has settled down.

not so many moons ago these were around 80k,they look an absolute bargain now,and they look very nice:thumbup:

I saw the V10 Tuareg pull a combine harvester across a muddy field on Top Gear when the engine was first unveiled. Stunning lump :P

The Phaeton looks, to me, like a pimped Passat ;) Still, not bad value now :)

I once saw, in the same day, the plates "CHR 15" on a Mini in Essex and CHR 1 S" on a Porche in Nottingham. (I have my doubts about how genuine the Mini was )

They used the V10 'Toerag' to pull the resident Boeing 747-200 at Dunsfold - I wonder which poor soul they sold that one too. Most probably advertised as an "ex demonstrator"

Clarkson was also filmed talking about said V10 off roader whilst sitting on a felled tree that was being towed by said V10 off roader.

Personally I love the V10's noise more than anything else but that's to be expected seeing as I have a thing for big Diesel engines :)

I have a thing for big Diesel engines :)

:P

I also have a thing for big diesel engines.. it was working for cummins that did it for me :P
