I've gone and done it..........Willberpog II

Featured Replies

It was the best of days, it was the worst of days. I have gone and swapped Willberpog for a new German Willberpog II (BMW 123D 3dr Hatch). Picked the car up too late to take pictures, but snapped this with my phone. I was quite upset to see WP go, but I know he’ll make someone else very happy as he’s a great car. Interestingly, the new WP doesn’t feel any quicker up to 50mph, but it’s early days, I’m still taking it easy as I run him in and he is a manual, so I struggle to match the lightning gear changes of the DSG. Had a couple of hours driving around trying to figure the toys out and get a feel for the new car. Surprised the BMW salesmen, when I pointed out that the Skoda had a lot of the toys that the BMW sports.

Thanks. I realise that I am now a social leper around here, but I’m hoping that as I had a Skud for a couple of years I will still be allowed on other bits of the forum………….if anyone ever lets me out!!!!

You’d be surprised. I always feel a bit sad when I change cars, but this time I really felt unsure of changing. Must be the power of Skoda:thumbup:

Looks nice Amanda

Enjoy your new wheels.

2.3 Diesel of course ;)

Looks like the Beemer has lots of extra toys stuck on as well. Enjoy :)

It has a Christmas tree of a spec list (trades description of a nutter who over specs a car) think it has added so much weight it’s slowed the car to the point it’s no quicker than a standard Octy TDi.

Oh, by the way, it is suprisingly only a 2.0 engine, BMW give cars that are a bit more tuned a slightly different moniker for some reason. ie the 335D is a 3.0! still it has 2 turbos.....weeeeeeeeeee

Think Alfa got there first though:D

Congratumalations, Hinney! I've found myself looking longingly at the 123D coupe recently. Nice!

Ta very muchly. Couldn’t stretch to a Coupe sadly, but the ride quality of the hatch (mkII version) is vastly improved over the original, so I reckon the Coupe will ride and handle beautifully (think a lot of this is down to the 2nd gen ride flats.)

Think Alfa got there first though:D

Mebbe, but if you call it Junior then you can tell it off for misbehaving etc (though we know who'll really be doing the misbehaving) :P

Honest, Occifer, he's just sooo naughty at times :D

335D uses a twin turbo system: a low inertia tiddler for low revs and a whopper for higher revs. The same system is used on your 123D. Virtually eliminates the turbo lag.

Not bad performance figures for a 2 litre derv ;)

That doesn’t work with a female officer though:(

Correct:thumbup:. In fact the engine s reckoned to be the worlds first mass produciont diesel producing in excess of 100 bhp/litre. There was a limited series of Astras (888) that were modified, but the Beemer is reckoned to be the worlds most powerful diesel for specific output in the world! (again it refers to mass production)

The small turbo handing over to the larger, is imperceptible, very clever bit of kit.

Well done Amanda  Must have been a long while coming for you :)

Would not like to be a passenger sat behind you though :)

Did you add indicators to the options list??

Very very clever stuff and hats off to the bods at BMW.

I wonder whether VAG will go down the Derv route with the Super/Turbo TSI..............:rubchin:

Either that or everyone will copy BMW's twin turbo over time.

Anyways, enjoy the car and I'm sure it will be spectacular once loosened up

Lol, there isn’t much room at the best of times in a 1 series, but I tend to take up most of the remaining space up with my reclined position

Did you add indicators to the options list??

Believe it or not, I have had no problems adapting to the weird electronic indicators at all. Even changed the instant touch to give 3 flashes, a la Skoda.:D

Well they already tool a leaf out of Lancia’s book with a Supercharger/Turbo petrol engine, so who knows where they will stop:confused::thumbup:

nice motor Amanda

i'm assuming its big enough for all your gear or you wouldn't of bought it
