What am I doing wrong?

Featured Replies

I've now had my Fabia vRS for 16 months, doubled the mileage from 26,500 to 53,000.

The engine tune is original,

the wheels are original,

brakes are original,

exhaust is original,

grille is original,

stereo is original,

suspension is original.

Nothing added,nothing taken away.

My problem is :- I LOVE IT JUST THE WAY IT IS!

Judging by thousands of postings here I should be spending a fortune trying to make the car into something it isn't.

Am I the only satisfied owner?

Nothing wrong with that. I'm perfectly happy with mine as well.

However, I do contemplate a PD160 intake and mild remap from time to time - just wondering whether it could make it even better....

My girlfriends dad loved his the way it was. He used to say it is what it is........a very good car for the money!

Somedays i think what the hell am i doing. the amount of money ive spent on cars since i passed my test is unthinkable, ive gone through 6 cars in 5 years :( the most expensive being my golf mk2 16v which i spent near on 5k on.

The fabia is just about getting to the stage where i am happy

I think once my brakes are on ill leave it alone :D

If you're happy with it, that's all that counts. As has already been implied modifying is like an addiction, there's always just one more thing to make the perfect car. I've spent 10's of thousands on mods to expensive cars over the years. My current modified Furby vRS is the cheapest car I've owned in more than 10 years and the one I'm having most fun with.

You needn't following the modification trend for the sake of it, that would be stupid.

If you're happy with the car as it is, then leave it that way. It's very simple; or do you tend to do things and change your behaviour based on what other people are doing?

I don't know how you're happy with the handling?

It's the best handling car I've ever owned.

my furby is simply the greatest i have ever owned cheap economical and bloody fast as ****!!! i thought the remap complimenated the car further and i only have a green filter and a pd160 to go on...after this i am either going to leave the car as is he he or do something with the suspension as its a bit twitchy..also maybe some new r32 wheels yummy!!!

Mine's pretty standard but the white seats had to go....leather was fitted instead. Currently contemplating a RARB when ££ allows at the car doesn't handle well enough for me now I'm willing to push it a bit harder.

After going in one that's been mapped and fettled suspension wise it's making it all the more tempting. :D

:roflmao: if thats the case then what was your previous car? a reliant robbin?

If the vrs is anything like my old ibiza fr tdi it was shocking in standard form, suspension wise, and in the wet was dangerous, even with esp and TC turned on.

Understeer being the main problem, and even with decent tires on, in the wet whilst on the gas pedal it would spin up without any hesitation......................

Coincidently i work for sachs, so a suspension upgrade was only £150 ;) for uprated shocks and springs ( same as the seat optional extra when they first come out)

Think in total i spent about £7k on my old ibiza, that was with 2 hybrid turbos going bang too :( when the 2nd one went, it was replaced under warranty......

Was a hell of a car though when i was finished with it :D

they handle well enough to blitz skylines, the odd evo and a handful of 200sx's in the right hands on track:D

We had our first Fabia VRs a few years ago and loved it - completely standard. Now having two VRs' :D I am honestly gobsmacked by the transformation performed by adding:

- Jabbasport ARB

- Eibach pro springs

- Jabbasport remap

This has been done to my Ferb. The Mrs' VRs has the springs and about to have an ecutek map put on it (long story, but it turned out I bought it from a guy who had bought it from a good friend of mine, and he had mapped it). A pure stroke of spooky coincidence!

With the addition of 312mm brakes arriving shortly for mine, I am all set. A cheap to insure, frugal, very quick and beautifully handing car! :)

easy peasy  she will be expecting something more than a lump of coal and some chocolates in return though

at 3 years old I think maybe I will look into leather on my car, a new head unit and maybe the pd160 pipe. Thing is with the cost of driving increasing I don't know If i'd want to buy another. I can't see me geting another car to be honest.

What's funny is people say it can't handle... if you drive on the road at speed limits then I don't see the point of having the car handle like it's on rail,. Most of the time this reduces the comfort any way.

Plus understeer = lack of ability of the driver

How fast do you need to go before it doesn't handle?
