Howdy

This is my first foray into forums and this one looks good and lively.

Sorry to start off with a problem but needs must. My beloved '97 Felicia diesel has just got an intermittent starting problem. The glow plug indicator on the dash fails to come on and I can tell from the interior light not dimming that the glow plugs are not drawing current. When it did light and start I rushed it to my Skoda dealer for a check. It wouldn't start again in their car park.

They have just phoned and told me that the injector pump is faulty and will cost me getting on for 2K to fix! Surely and intermittent fault in the pre-heating circuit can't be caused by the injector pump?

I know I could probably get the pump replaced for under 1K but I'm not convinced that the pump is the problem. Can anyone tell me if this tale could be true please?
