Performance figures

Featured Replies

the standard figures for an octy vRS seem to be 7.9sec 0-60 and 146mph max speed

has anyone tested their remapped car and got the new figures? 0-60, 0-100, max speed???

i know its on the road driving that makes the difference but i was just curious.

I could tell you the Max (GPS) Speed of a Jabba'd RS, but the back straight at Brunters was too short. I was still accelerating at 140 when i went past the flag if that's any indication.

I beleive a certain few members have seen 160+ on GPS given enough road ;)

As for 0-60, i tried it once and beat the standard figure quite easily, but it was hardly scientific. Can't remember the time though. Should be on the site somewhere.

At the last Funkyjutel meet in the Midlands.....on a piece of private road I clocked 8 seconds dead in a standard car. Doesn't sound good........but I was fully loaded up as I was travelling back to work that evening with a boot full of clothes and junk, and there was the excessive wheelspin and judder.

Performance figures from the factory aren't to be trusted, they are either very generous with the figures meaning the car will do it quicker than they say or they have been done buy a racing driver who neglects to use the clutch on up shifts. :)

Indeed and I managed 7.5 sec with a load of mods, but that was with a load of wheel spin induced half way round the rev counter in first as I wrongly thought the car would not break traction at 30mph as I proceeded to floor the gas pedal. Getting a good 0-60 is all in the technique.....(apparently)

I believe my tyre marks are still there ...

The best advice I can give is to read the Autocar test - as that will give you very accurate 'chipped Octavia' acceleration figures. Their 0-60 was 6.7, my 4x4 (allowing for speedo error) is bang on the 6.5 mark, so there you go.

hi guys

just one question????

how do u test your 0-60 or 0-100 ??????

a stop watch????

mines been timed in low 6's on road tyres...

sorry whats ........ low 6's on road tyres

sorry whats ........ low 6's on road tyres
0-60

no i mean how did u test it !!!

with a sundial.....

if he says it was "tested" this usually indicates the use of timing gear at a venue simular to brunters, sorry if that sounds like i'm being sarcastic.

if you were to try and time this yourself the only thing you can use is a stop watch and hope that the speedo is accurate to give you a rough idea. without proper timing gear you cant be accurate to the dot if you get what i mean.

1 elephants 2 elephants 3 elephants etc etc isn't going to be much use i'm afraid.

with booked figures the cars have usually been done in fairly controlled conditions and its taken from an average of a few runs normally done by a test / race driver who doesnt give a toss about the car and rags the nuts off it to get the best figures he can.

to be honest i dont think 0-60 times are what its all about anyway, ok a car will eed to be quick off the mark but i think in real terms a fast 30-70 is much more useful if your wanting to show someone what your car can do. Its like top speed, when do you honestly need more than say 120mph ? unless your on a track with long straights, what you really want is massive midrange punch to give you blistering pace between say 30 and a tonne.

6.4 with two up \ dell rackmount kit in boot \ tank of fuel \ gravelly road - timed on AP22 perf metre.

(and indicated 145....)

(and indicated 145....)

Indicated by you, or the officer following? :P

Rob.

hush!

good figures considering the load you were carrying though...

my ap22 should be back in my posession soon.. so will take some times for mine on road and slicks.

if it has a turbo....;)

did any one used the G-Timer from escort

how good is it

i used it for my car the best record i got was 9.5 sec using 225/50/16 tyers
