Featured Replies

Bit worried as thinking of my old 306 hdi it used to sit at 80 degrees centigrade

However my VRS sits at 90 degrees rain or shine, is this normal??

Mine sits at 90oC. So yes, All is normal

is it me or is that not rather high for a diesel? 90 is more like a petrol running temp

90 is fine, It has been manufactured to run at that temp for efficiency reasons, I recon they could easily have it at 80 but found it better economy/performance at that temp. I wouldnt worry bout it

The temperature will fluctuate above and below, but the gauge is purposley (sp) innacurate so as not to concern the motorists.

yep mine sits at 90 too, never thought about it being high tho, mind you its the only derv i have ownedx3 and they all did the same:thumbup:

Pressurised cooling system! IIRC petrol lumps will run at over 100oC

Bang in the middle of the gauge is good. Remember its the water temp. so all is okay :D

yeah, its just my last car sat at 80 on a hot day, usually about 70/75 but the vrs sits at 90. surely this higher running temp will effect the longevity of the engine? as the lower running temps of diesels allow the engines to run longer? or am i just talking rubbish?

/\ well your right there.

was a good engine though.

I had it upto 141k before i sold and that was it remapped upto the high heavens and it got a fair ragging! :)

Always 90°C for me too...

and me

as said above its the water temperature, this is usually the same for any car, just worry if it starts going too high above that

even on a scorching hot day on track i have never seen it move over 90.

Well if you plug VAG COM in the temp was about 79ish when the temp guage read 90 so I'd say the guage was reading wrong

even on a scorching hot day on track i have never seen it move over 90.

This was an alarming thing when I had the Fabia - my previous cars used to creep up in temperature (especially sat in traffic) and then the fan would kick in and it would drop back. The Fabia (and Mondeo) just stay rock solid half way up the gauge

Chris

VAG make it so it sits bang on 90 when engine is warmed up, could be running at 80-100, this is so that every car sits the same so they don't have customers complaining that there "pals" guage reads different when at operating temperature.

89.9c for me
