Dragon Tuning Box

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me when the 7 pin replaced the 14 pin?

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know how much you can expect to pay or get for a 7 pin dragon tuning box, that has been used

Prices range depending on what people think they're worth. Worth having a look on ebay and seeing what's available - there are bargains to be had :D

I think the RRP for a new one is about £300.

You can get them from Dragon though through their ebay store for a lot less.

Basically they are reconditioned units but they still come with the 30 day money back guarentee as well as a full 3 year warranty and they work out around the £200 mark.

I got mine this way. It was shown as being for audi 1.9PD rather than Skoda but all you need to do is let them know what car it is for when you make payment.

Private sales i've seen them go for anything between £120 and £250 used but to be honest anything over £150 and i'd rather pay the £50 extra and get a full 3 year warranty.

Cheers

Dave.

Yeh i have one and was trying to sell on eBay but the highest bid was 85 quid and didn't sell. Couldnt justfiy letting it go for such a small amount.

Maybe i will keep it and put it back on the car??????

I paid £200 for a 7 pin brand new about 2 years ago & sold it with the strut brace at 18 months old for £200.

So the 7 pin was introduced at least 2 years ago...

I believe Dragon's warranty is 3 years on both new and reconditioned boxes and is transferable. That being so, I reckon a used box with no warranty wouldn't be worth any more than around 1/3 of what you'd expect to pay for a reconditioned unit from Dragon. The price of one of those is around £230 therefore expect to pay/get circa £75.

On the other hand, a box with warranty remaining would almost certainly be worth significantly more than a 1/3 value.

I bought my box 2nd possibly 3rd hand. is there any way of finding out how old the box is without any invoices etc

Matt

Also, does anyone know if a box 7 pin box that fits a 1.9 PD will also fit the 2.0 PD VAG engines

Yes & no....... You would have to send it off to Dragon to be re-flashed for the 2.0..... You can't just take it off one car and put it on another unless they have the same engine.

i.e. you could take it off a fabia vRS and put it on another Fabia vRS but not on a fabia 1.4 etc.....

ah ok thanks, am selling one on ebay and was wondering how to advertise it to max the selling potential
