Suspension changes on a Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

Hi All

I find the set up not great and want to tighten up the ride .

Whats the best way to go and were do i get it done ?

This must affect the insurance/warenty ?

any ideas

I have changed the tyres to Toyo Proxes tyres and fitted an upper strut brace

The tyres make a huge difference to the overall feel of the car and the brace tightens up the steering nicely

Next will be Eibach -30mm springs and Koni shocks

As above, but I recommend eibach pro-dampers for the eibach springs. Very nicely matched up they are.

I got mine lowered 25mm and coming soon are upper and lower front strut braces and a rear upper strut brace. Will need better tyres soon aswell. The Michelins are getting close now!

Jason.. how would you rate the difference between the eibach dampers and the koni ones (did you have them on Fabia I)? has it changed the ride and handling of the car?

Eibach springs,

Adjustable Koni Dampers

Momo front strut brace

17" wheels/tyres

Handling much improved, feels so much better and assured. To quote a fellow member it feels alot more 'planted'.

Yes it will affect your insurance, probably not much though, check first. And with regards to warranty it all depends on what you problem is, if you have uprated suspension they may decline to investigate things like trim rattles and maybe suspension related noises but it shouldn't concern them if for instance you cam cover gasket is leaking.

Ross,

Could you PM me the cost of the supply and fitting of the springs, with an w/o the dampers? I'm keen to get the suspension and one click done once I can swap insurance companies at the end of June.

Cheers

Duncan

noone fancy going the KW route?

I'm not sure - I'm not very expert... ok, I'm not at all expert on these things, any advice appreciated. (Especially from trained Skoda technicians eh Col?) ;-)

I kind of fancy going down the KW route, but I believe the Koni / Eibachs offer more adjustment for the cost. KWs are great, but more expensive.

Also, Adrian is sorting out a potential GB on Eibachs...

Decisions decisions...

with regards to the lowering and insurance. Blag it's for safety that's what I did when I had my coupe lowered, by saying how can improving a cars handling be anything but safer!!!! Try it it may work :D
