Featured Replies

:finger:

this is really getting me down now, i had cruse control fitted and 3 days later the air bag warning light came on, booked into skoda......

got there today 8.30 am sat there untill 1.30pm the bloke comes out and said "right we got the air bag sorted it was a broken connection, but we carnt clear the other two lights, being (1 tyre pressure warning thingy) (2 traction control warning light) ????? what is going on  now i haft to wait till after xmas to rebook & another day off work etc

i got no responce from the push buttons eg on or off,

is there any way i can clear this fualt myself ??????

HELP plz

Any idea what the fault codes are? The other 2 could be linked as the tyre pressure monitoring utilises the ABS sensors as must the traction control do. If you have a laptop and can get access to VAG Com (CAN version) then you can read /erase and modify the cars electronics all day long. Have you checked the tyre pressures, I have heard that there is a way of initialising the tyre pressure system, is the traction control switched off?

sounds like what came up on my display after i had maxidot fitted. it can be cleared easily with vag com.

ive checked tyre pressures and there ok

ive tryed to turn the traction control back on, its like the buttons are dead, but they do light up with the lights on,

they also said they have cleared the errors but they come stright back ?

makes me think skoda have made a bo bo when fixing the airbag

smart innit gos into skoda with one warning light on and come out with two on lol, not sure if i should go back lol

ive got obd2 - can reader but it only reads engine codes so not really much help

Sounds like you may have a problem with an ABS sensor, both the traction control system and the TPM system use the sensors for different reasons. Traction control uses them to see if the wheels are starting to spin, and likewise the tpm uses the sensors to check for a change in the rotational speed between each wheel which could indicate a puncture.

yes the tpm/abs was my problem well thats what the vagcom found anyway.

If a sensor had packed up wouldn't the whole ABS system go offline and throw up the dreaded ABS warning lamp on the dash in conjunction with the TPM/ASR warnings?

Doesn't the TPM monitor data from the ASR which then in turn interrogates the ABS controller for sensor data?

If there is no ABS light but TPM/ASR problems my first thoughts would be the traction control system, maybe a disconnected wire behind the dash caused by the cruise install

did they take the dashboard out at all?

Re Airbag light, any idea what they done to fix it, AFAIK theres a problem with these were a new connector under the seat solves it. I had mine come on but not had the new connector put in yet. Its caused by moving the seat back/forward :)

If the steering wheel has been off to fit the cruise control / fix air bag light then the problem could well be the steering angle sensor, these are supposed to be able to be calibrated by vag-com, but on my Superb it required a new unit.

The sensor tells the car which way you want to go if the ABS/ESP is activated.

mmmm now its starting to make sence

when i was there the tec guy came out and said there is no fualts with the airbag sys BUT there is a recall on wiring can we do it now its here (2 hours) so i said ok, the lady from GAFF - the admin desk came to me once and said that they have the seats out now  so this would indercate that the problem wire is under the seats, so you could leave the dealer with the same probs lol

the ABS is working i did try this in a mad effort to try and shock the system into working, but just ended up scaring myself instead lol

Yep I was told it would be a 2hr job to take seat out, btw isn't it amazing that all these Airbag Lights start going off within a few weeks of each other :)

Its a feature - .

I'm getting sick of hearing that word, it's mostly due to not being ABLE/BOTHERED to actually look into a proper fix for an issue. De-laminating windscreen a prime example, I seen a 1999 Oct with the same issue, so in 9 years they have done SFA (Sweet F... All) to fix it.

lol you can see it now, errr sorry Mr engineer you carnt have that week off because we will have 50 cars with air bag lights calling in

It turns out it was only the steering sensor that wanted resetting  , maybe they could of done this on the last visit lol

But they also corrected the wind noise on the rear windows

So im a happy bunny again...:D
