Wiring in a Parrot kit

Featured Replies

Right, well the Parrot kit I fitted to my MK I octy has been sat on the floor for too long so I'm thinking it is about time it got fitted to the MK II.

I have the following parts

- 22AWG red, orange and black wire

- A little green connector (on order) P/N 3B7 035 447 B

- Connector cable for above P/N 000 979 010

- Connector into main CAN houseing P/N 000 979 133

- A load of suitable wire wrap and heat shrink

- An ISO connector.

The connector on the parrot box itself looks very similar to a 24pin ATX power connector, so I might even just go the whole hog and make a custom look if it is.

So apart from those bits listed above, a ring connector for the ground and a couple of fuse box wires anybody see anything I'm missing?

If I do go ahead with all of this then I'll take plenty of pics and do a how to.

Also, while looking over the wiring diagram...

Is it me or is pin 3 (I think it is three) from the CD connector between data IN and CD R a switched power supply?

Looks like it to me, which would make wiring in a car kit much easier for anyone with a stream unit.

I put loads of install pics on here before, them might come in handy ;). Although more recently someone else had a different type of harness.

I'm making my own harness up as my head unit is an Audience and I don't want a load of trailing leads behind the radio.

My biggest issue is going to be getting into the fuse box to connect a live, a switched live and a suitable ground somewhere nearby.

Oh that and getting the microphone in.

Will have a search for your install though ta :)

I've got a newer one, which had a blue box of tricks... was **** easy to install... sounds like you've not got that?

No I have got said blue box of tricks, the thing is it was p*ss easy in the MK I octy and will be in the fabia as the radios use ISO connectors.

The MK II however uses canbus and also has no switched live so I'm having to do it my own way.

If i get this loom up I have a few friends and families who want similar things so I'll be making mine up properly including solder/heatshrink joints on the loom or a genuine plug if I can convince parrot to let me buy one.

EDIT: I'm looking at putting a fag lighter socket on there, probably off the switched earth, which I can then locate in the glove box area to allow a phone to be dropped in there and charged. :)

The Adaptor the Cj_uk had was a lot tidyer that the ones I had,

Problem I have is that I have the audience, so have to run a switched earth.

I just figure there is no point paying £20 for the adapters plus more for the other bits.

I've got all the wire, heat shrink and other stuff any way.

Just need to find somewhere to put the lighter socket as it appears the glove box is a solid item.

I'll post pictures of any progress up here, just need to find some pics of how to get into the fuse box.

Thanks for all your help so far, no doubt I'll be back when I get stuck.

Right well I now have the wires and connectors to go with all the cabling... It just depends how much the family wind me up as to if I do it over Christmas.

Yeah, just got a small Alpine sub I need to fit and I am waiting for the very same opportunity ;)
