Hmm, I think I'd have to disagree with that, being a regular at the Nurburgring gives you a good idea of what seems to make a good track car, and sadly nearly every GT3 at the Nurburgring falls into one of 2 categories -

1. Crashed! or -

2. Seized engine.

Sadly the latter usually results in the former and also= oil spill = dead bikers.

Funny you say that! I remember chatting to a blokey I know - he works at a certain very well-known Porsche servicing and tuning specialist - about how water cooled Porsche's arn't right! His response was "They are good business" - as in they break down more than the air cooled ones!

I don't understand this concept of air cooled Porsches (and VW's) being the original and best.

Surely that's like saying "Gadzooks, Sir! These confounded Anti lock carbon ceramic breaks are the devil's work! Not only are Drum Brakes far superior, but they are also the only proper braking system for a committed Gentleman."

But...drum brakes will never be as effective as disc brakes because they do not dissipate heat as well. As for air cooling vs. water cooling, you don't need water cooling to make big power! This tuning company's race car (company is actually 9M Racing, aka Ninemiester) puts out over 450bhp. Thats reliable bhp, its air cooled, and its normally aspirated. Downside is becaue of the higher internal temperatures, forged components are a given for even mediocre performance air-cooled motors :(

Besides, air cooled Porsches sound better :oD
