Vista Sidebar.....

What tools do you use?

I have the CPU meter, wireless connection indicator, analogue clock and a local weather indicator (dunno why i just dont look outside) :D

They are kinda pointless but just wondered if anyone else uses anything decent/interesting/useful?

:bump:

Mines still on the default - currently 38 degrees in Redmond, WA. :thumbdwn: How the **** do I change it and where do you get useful tools?

Killed it first time I saw it, can't say I ever missed it... :smashfrea:RIP:

I downloaded the multimeter, its interesting to see what the cores and ram are doing when playing games etc. Don't use any other gadgets

if i want to see how my pc is doing i just hit cntrl alt del and get it up that way. I use the notepad thing as i can put in all the dates in there for birthdays and briskoda meets. The weather thing but minimise so it just says (at moment) "11c Cloudy" and i have the rss feed there so i can see the news and anything of interest on here (with a delay of up to 1 hour) lol.

Nothing in the sidebar of my computer, I have disabled it as I dont really see the point.

I've got a nicer CPU meter , the weather thing running detached so you get three days instead of one , an analog clock , a memory meter , a disk space one that you can also click on to go to the drive in question which is very handy , and a set of buttons to shut down/lock/hibernate.

I've got huge amounts of desktop space so I don't mind losing some for the sidebar

I have (from top to bottom):

Multimeter (4 core and ram version)

Digital clock (uk)

Digital clock (australia)

Drive info (as said above shows drive and space left and opens the drive in my computer when clicked on)

Then finally picture slide-show

The sidebar is on my right hand monitor so it doesn't waste any desktop for me!

Although at the moment im just waiting for my new power supply and praying that when the old one blew it didn't take the motherboard/cpu/gfx card out too!!!

And for anyone on XP who desperately wants a sidebar a la Vista, go to Microsoft Vista sidebar - XP sidebar design Thoosje.com (I think) and download a sidebar that works just fine in XP, with the CPU/RAM meters, Weather, clocks etc etc...

you can download the side bar off the google site, thats where i got the one on my xp laptop from (its the same as the vista one).;)

My sidebar:

sidebar.jpgPlus I have the notes on the desktop, and a WMP plugin which displays album art, ratings, and lyrics for the current track.

I have a calendar, Picture feed and newsfeed from BBC News. There doesn't seem to be many useful ones tbh,
