When i did my rear doors in the summer i could remove the door cards properly so had to fold them upwards and prop them with screwdrivers! They seem to be fixed along the top edge where it seals against the window. I felt that they would rip the door card if i tried pulling it off.

you just weren't forcefull enough, some 'gentle' persuasion gets them off, you have to lift them up the way
